Take a long hard look at the people you consider attractive. Blonde, brunette or redhead, exotic or girl next door, sophisticated or down-to-earth - they all have one thing in common… a clear, healthy looking complexion.

There are a few people out there who have simply been blessed by the Dermatology Fairy, but just a few. Most of the people who strike you as healthy-looking and, let’s face it, lucky, are in fact dedicated to a good skin-care regime.

We’d all like to have blemish-free skin, and the truth is, with a little commitment we all can. Even you!

So, how can you change your skin?

No, it won’t cost you a dime, all you need to do is change your habits. People with truly beautiful skin dedicate time, just a little, and the results are, well, the results are beautiful.

Here’s How You Can Join the Ranks of Pimple Free People

* WASH using an oil-free cleanser and your bare hands (washcloths and sponges damage your skin), in the morning, after exercise and before bed no matter how tired you are.

* LAUNDER your sheets frequently - don’t lay that freshly washed face on a less than fresh pillowcase!

* WATER is essential to clear skin. You’ve heard it before, but here we go again: Drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

* EAT HEALTHY FOODS. They are just as important to skin health as they are to overall health. Fruits and vegetables provide vitamins and minerals; fish are full of essential oils; avoid junk foods. Research does not support the common myth that chocolates cause break-outs, but too much of any junk food is detrimental to your well-being, and is therefore bad for your skin.

* SLEEP when you’re tired. Sleep, and its counterpart, relaxation, are necessities, not luxuries. Physical exhaustion and stress are enemies of a clear complexion.

* BABY your skin. Don’t pick at pimples. Avoid touching your face unnecessarily - the oil on your fingertips belongs on your fingertips, not on your face. Moisturize and use sunscreen with at least a 15SPF every day all year long.

Make these habits your own and you will see a difference in as little as a week. You may even find people looking a little longer at your face. That look… it’ll be envy.

People will be wondering if the Dermatology Fairy has blessed you.

Share your secrets with the envious masses. Imagine. A world populated by happy, healthy faces.

So you want to look like a star?

Who doesn’t? It would be really nice to wake up and have someone else worry about your hair and makeup.

Celebrities have “people” whose very jobs are to help famous faces look their best.

Award-winning actresses, runway models, even pop stars all depend on their looks.

Do advertisers want to feature close-ups of crow’s feet?

Who wants to see cellulite on the big screen?

Teen idols should look young and fresh so their audience will want to be like them. It’s their job to look great.

Without a beautifully packaged look, they’re out of work. So work they do. They work at their beauty.

And so can you.

But, you don’t have beauty professionals at your beck and call…

Oh, but you do.

Just not the same ones the celebrities do.

You’re worthy of a cast of beauty professionals, too.

You deserve it and it’s not a luxury impossible to afford.

Consider your beauty “people” and, if you choose carefully, you will have professionals looking out for you, keeping you up to date on the best products, colors and techniques available for you.

How do you choose the right people?

Use only professionals whose overall look is something you like.

If you’re seeking a natural look, look for make-up and hair stylists who successfully achieve that look.

If they can do it for themselves, they can teach you the same techniques they’re using.

If you want to appear polished and sophisticated, use a stylist whose own personal style impresses you.

Department store makeup counter salespeople

Use them. You don’t need to buy any of their products, unless you want to. But what they can teach you at no cost is something you should really take advantage of.

They’re trained in proper technique and are up on the latest trends.

Independent beauty consultants

That neighbor leaving catalogs in your mailbox is a good source of ideas. Invite her over and let her give you a makeover. Again, you’re not obligated to purchase anything unless you really want it.

Hairdressers

Hairstyles change with the times, so should your stylist. If she’s not attending stylists’ conventions or changing her own hairstyle, she’s not as professional as you deserve.

So, now you have your people.

What do stars do when they’re at home being people, not stars?

Beauty Sleep

It’s not a myth. Get yours.

No caffeine…
…or limited caffeine if you must. It causes premature aging, and who needs that?

Shimmer creams and bronzers…
…help stars shine.

Eat Fish…
…like sardines and salmon. They’re full of essential oils that actually nourish your skin.

No smoking
Not only is it bad for your health, it causes lines and dullness in your skin.

Your skin care regime
It doesn’t have to be expensive. Your products can come from the local drug store. Everyone benefits from a cleanser, a toner, and a moisturizer.

Always, always, always remove makeup at the end of the day. Two more minutes of sleep is not worth a blemished face in the morning. Quick fixes from famous faces.

*Coffee grounds can be recycled and used as a cellulite scrub.

*Castor oil, used by a certain British raven- haired actress/spokesperson/ beauty, creates star quality shine for hair.

*Cinnamon oil (check your health food or vitamin store) rubbed on the lips creates pouty, kissable lips.

*Soak your nails in olive oil, as does a Hollywood Pretty Woman.

*A combination of milk and water mixed in equal parts, spritzed on the face throughout the day is all the rage with many silver screen beauties.

*Legally Blonde hair is baby soft and shiny thanks to baby shampoo.

Glow like a star. You deserve to look your best. Treat yourself to a day of beauty - at home or at the salon. Live the life of a star, without being chased by paparazzi.

Manicures, pedicures, artificial tips, paraffin treatments, nail jewelry - the nail care industry is booming, with nail salons seemingly on every corner.

Why is this, do you suppose? There was a time when only the wealthy had regular manicures, but now it’s commonplace. Whether you go to a salon weekly, or choose to buff and polish your nails at home, it’s important to take care of your fingertips.

Take a look at your hands. What do they say about you? Think about what they say to others. Are your hands rough, red, irritated? Or, are they smooth and pampered?

Are your cuticles ragged? Or have you cut or pushed them back? Hot pink, French tips, or clear-coated, it’s not the color you wear that matters. What really matters is the condition of your hands and nails, and you can improve the state of your nails by taking a few simple steps.

Protect your nails

Wear gloves when washing the dishes or the kitchen floor. Do not use your nails as tools. They aren’t meant to scrape the price stickers off your new picture frame. Be sure to apply sunscreen all the way down to the tips of your nails. Sun damage affects nails, too.

Moisturize your nails regularly

Every time you wash your hands, you need to moisturize your hands. Keep hand cream in your purse. Have a bottle in each bathroom of your home and one at the kitchen sink.

Nails need to breath

Every so often, leave the polish out of your manicure routine. Let your nails get a little oxygen.

Do not use nail products containing formaldehyde

It’s not used in biology class anymore. Don’t use it on your nails, it’s not safe.

Gelatin really does work

You thought it was a myth when you heard it as a teenager, but it’s true. Eating gelatin helps your nails grow strong and healthy.

Nutrition

Water, fresh fruits and vegetables, protein from meats and fish, and vitamins (multi and E, in particular) all stimulate nail growth.

Sterilize, sterilize, sterilize

Keep your home manicure kit clean. At the salon, purchase a set from the nail technician. The salon will label it, store it, and use it just for you.

They’re inexpensive and essential to protecting yourself from fungus and communicable infections. Don’t be shy, be sure your manicurist knows that you take cleanliness seriously.

Have you ever wondered why celebrities seem to look gorgeous no matter where they are and no matter what the moment? Are they prettier than the rest of us so it’s easy for them? Not at all – they are just smarter about what their makeup bag holds. Read on for makeup bag secrets of the celebrities.

Celebrities will tell you having their makeup at their fingertips is their number one priority and it should be for every woman. That’s not to say you have to pack around 50 pounds of makeup. Just a tube of lipstick can do a lot to freshen your face. Actresses like Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Anniston, or Angelina Jole will all tell you that the ultimate makeup bag is really no secret at all.

You can buy fashionable and trendy makeup bags ranging in size from compact to purse size so even your makeup back can make a fashion statement. But lets face it. It’s what we put in it the makeup bag that really counts. And why is it no matter what size your makeup bag is, it seems to be too small or the makeup you most need at the moment doesn’t appear to have made it into the bag? It’s time solve that problem by putting together the makeup bag of the celebrities with all their secrets.

Your makeup bag is really a matter of your personal taste. Choose one that grabs your attention, fits your personality and fits your purse. There’s no sense buying a huge makeup bag when you pack a tiny purse. You can buy discount bags for as little as $5.00 or designer makeup bags for as much as $100.00.

The Celebrity makeup bag is based on the assumption that your makeup bag is small to medium in size. For those that have a tinier bag you’ll have to choose which items to remove. For those packing a large bag, add all the extras that will fit. The celebrities tell us the most important thing you need to put in your bag is a small double sided compact mirror. You can purchase a nice size travel mirror complete with protective cover for around $5.00.

The next most important tool for the celebrities are the makeup brushes. Make sure you have a blush and eyeshadow brush in your bag. Or you can purchase a compact set of miniature brushed for around $10.00. That will ensure you’ll have every brush you need. Now to the makeup. Jennifer Aniston says your foundation or powder is the absolute most essential makeup bag requirement. If the original container is too large, then purchase a compact bottle or transfer some to an after market container that seals well. Angela Jole won’t leave home without her favorite lipstick. Pick only one or your bags going to get full too fast. Remember your building a compact version of your real makeup case. You can add a lip gloss if you like. Eyeshadow is also a must have for touchup. Choose a palette of colors you can wear or use anytime. There is no good way to pack a variety of colors, so it’s best to choose your most reliable colors. And for heavens sake don’t’ forget to add mascara and eyeliner.

According to the stars you also need to make sure you have your blush. Now this can be a bit trickier because the containers are a bit big. Best to look for a flat compact style blush. To keep you fresh, you can also add some prepackaged facial cleansing cloths, a travel toothbrush and toothpaste, and a travel size deodorant.

That’s it, you know now the makeup bag secrets of the celebrities . All the basics, to get you through the day and have you looking gorgeous. So what was the big secret?

There are many myths surrounding the Fountain of Youth. But are they really all fairytales?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if such a fountain existed?

Certainly, there is no sparkling fountain, gushing magical waters that you eagerly drink and then, mirror in hand, watch as the years drop away in front of your very eyes.

But, take heart! Because, it is fabled that, up in a Tibetan monastery, deep in the foothills of the Himalayas, the secrets of biological age reversal were discovered well over a century ago. And the secrets, like most natural remedies, were remarkably simple.

The story goes that a retired Englishman, who had served in India, had heard persistent rumours about a place in the Himalayan mountains where people remained youthful well into their late years. Not only did they continue to look young but, astonishingly, they also retained their vigour.

No drugs or secret herbs were involved!

Determined to learn their secret, the Englishman returned to India, retired and enfeebled by age, and tracked down the monastery. He spent more than a year there, learning different very basic health secrets from the Tibetan Lamas, and then returned to England.

It is said he came back a new man, looking and acting twenty years younger! Fortunately, he recorded his experiences in Tibet for the benefit of his astounded friends. And so today, we have information about the secret rejuvenation yoga he learned from the Tibetan lamas.

These secrets of retaining youth were embodied in a set of rejuvenation yoga exercises that the monks practiced daily.

The exercises are very simple, and are complemented by a breathing technique, without which the exercises will lack effectiveness.

Wealthy clients of famous natural health Gurus in North America are now practicing this regimen with excellent results. Word has spread like wildfire, and now thousands of people all over the world are secretly doing this special yoga.

Reports from some practitioners are almost miraculous! They speak of youthful skin and age spots fading, grey hair reverting back to black, body aches and pains disappearing, renewed energy and overall physical and mental rejuvenation.

Contrary to all you have been taught, even as your chronological age creeps up on you, your youthful looks and vitality can endure. And it is all based on a very rudimentary principle.

The fundamental principle, on which the Tibetan yoga is based, is that our endocrine system releases a lesser supply of hormones as we age. Mother Nature made the decision that once we have passed the youthful procreating years, we no longer need to look good to attract a mate, nor do we need the drive and energy of youth. So she gradually turns off the hormonal tap. The result is the aging signs that we all dread. Our skin becomes wrinkled and slack, our hair thins, our energy level drops, and we begin to "think older" as we see our reflection in the mirror each day.

Modern anti-aging strategies depend heavily on human growth hormone replacement therapy, despite possible adverse side effects. We, however, always prefer and advocate natural methods, unless there is absolutely no alternative.

The rejuvenation yoga exercises are designed to activate your endocrine system, stimulating the release of your natural hormones. To accomplish this, your chakras have to have their optimum spin restored. Sounds esoteric to most people, but ‘prana’ and ‘chi’ are familiar concepts to most Asians and Chinese.

But you don’t have to understand it for it to work, although it is a fascinating subject to explore. The regimen works so effectively that stories about the "place where people never age" has spread. It is now practiced by thousands of people all over the world, who swear by it!

You too, if you keep an open mind, can learn these exercises and drink from the mythical fountain of youth.

There are natural remedies for just about all health matters. They may take a little longer to work than drugs, but the side effects are almost always positive! And they don’t cost the earth!

Roshmi Raychaudhuri & Jay Chatterjee launched their web site http://www.youngagainforever.com to promote Tibetan rejuvenation yoga, which they personally endorse enthusiastically. Roshmi is a businesswoman based in India. Jay, a retired CA and commercial finance executive, resides in Canada. Their website contains, in addition, a wealth of information on other natural health topics and remedies to keep you looking and feeling radiant.

Hair Resources

No longer do you have to wait years for your hair to grow out to have a long hair style. You can go and get long hair right now using hair extensions. According to Julien Guyonnet, Creative Director at Antenna salon in London, hair extensions are perfect for transforming short hair to long hair, adding volume to thinning hair, growing out layers, a bad haircut and even adding highlights and lowlights without any chemical processing.

Julien Guyonnet explains that most people want the best style available in the fastest time possible. Everyone is in such a rush so they have to be practical. In reality, hair extensions are the only way to have long and healthy looking hair. To achieve that kind of thickness isn’t available in any other way.

What are hair extensions?

Hair extensions involve attaching human or synthetic man-made hair near the root of your natural hair to create a natural—looks like it grew out of your head—look. The extensions can be attached in 2-4 hours and will last anywhere from 3-6 months at which time they need to be removed and/or replaced depending on the method used.

There are many different hair extension methods to choose from these days. The hair can be attached strand by strand or in wefts (tiny little curtains of hair attached together at the top). Some of the many attachment methods available today use keratin based adhesives, glues, heat seal, tiny locs and even string to attach the hair to the natural hair. And if you’re not ready to permanently attach something to your hair, you can always try clip-in hair extensions that are easily removable.

The Facts of Monofibre® Hair Extensions

Julien Guyonnet uses the Monofibre® hair extension method that was invented by Simon Forbes of Dome Cosmetics over 20 years ago. This method uses man-made Monofibre® hair instead of human hair. The hair is so silky and smooth that you can’t even tell it’s not real.

The Monofibre® hair is attached near the root of the natural hair using a gentle heat that creates a heat seal between the extension hair and the natural human hair. The natural hair needs to be at least 3-inches/ ~8 cm. long to attach the extensions. It is suitable for all hair types as there are no glues or bonding materials used in the application.

Julien Guyonnet has attached Monofibre® hair extensions to clients that want a new look with longer and/or thicker hair and even clients suffering from all forms of hair loss due to cancer and certain treatments.

Hair loss clients usually have fine or brittle hair that can be further damaged if heavy human hair extensions are attached. The extra weight of the human hair can pull out the natural hair causing severe damage and even permanent hair loss. Monofibre® hair weighs about 1/3 of the weight of human hair and puts less stress on the natural hair.

The extensions can take between 2-3 hours to attach, depending on the requirements of the clients. A partial transformation would take roughly 1 hour and volumising would take between 1-1/2 to 2 hours. Monofibre® comes in many different colors and 2 different textures, classic and wave. The classic texture works on poker straight and semi-straight hair while the wave texture suits all curly hair types.

Monofibre® hair extensions can last up to 3 months at which time the extensions are completely removed and replaced with new hair. The hair can be removed and replaced during the same appointment so that a continual look is maintained. Most salons offer a tidy-up service to keep the style looking immaculate in between replacements. The costs for extensions can vary from salon to salon, but are much cheaper than human hair extensions. At Antenna Salon, Monofibre® hair extensions are very affordable. Prices start from £195/~$347 US.

Advantages of Monofibre®

The Monofibre® hair extension method has many advantages over methods using human hair, Julien Guyonnet explains. The hair is much lighter in weight and shinier in texture than human hair. And unlike human hair that has a mind of its own, the fibre hair holds a style until you take it out. Fibre hair is also non-porous, so it doesn’t absorb any hair care products in any way. He adds, “Because of its versatility, Monofibre® extensions can be manipulated into Avant-Garde styles such as dreadlocks, braids, etc.”

Julien Guyonnet continues, “I have tried using human hair for extensions and found it really an awful experience. I didn’t like using the glue and solvents. Actually, I felt quite ill through it all.” He feels that Monofibre® hair extensions are the safest method for natural hair and the most interesting since one can blend the hair with a variety of colors. The sky is the limit when it comes to creativity.

Another big advantage of Monofibre® hair extensions is the training and education that a stylist must go through in order to be qualified to do hair extensions Julien Guyonnet came to London over 9 years ago to learn everything about Monofibre® hair extensions from Antenna Salon.

He started out his career by training in France for 3 years at a Hairdressing Institute followed by 2 years work experience in Parisian salons on the Champs Elysées. He trained as an assistant using Monofibre® extensions for 6 months.

After completing the Dome Academy 4 day foundation course he became a qualified stylist in Monofibre® extensions. A year after that he became a senior stylist at Antenna and was doing 10 hair extension clients per week. Two years later he became the Creative Director at Antenna Salon in London.

Celebrities Wearing Monofibre® Hair Extensions

Monofibre® hair extensions have become even more popular as many celebrities, such as Vanessa Feltz, Peaches Geldof and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson are wearing them. Julien Guyonnet attached 12-in./~30 cm. hair extensions to Peaches Geldof’s medium length bright blonde hair. He also added some lowlights for a more sublt effect. She has been wearing Monofibre® hair extensions for about a year.

When asked why she wanted to get hair extensions, she says, “I wanted extensions because I thought it was a really fun, sexy look. I was making a documentary at the time and doing TV work, so I wanted to look glamorous! I’ve always loved long hair so it seemed the perfect way to do it as my hair just wasn’t growing fast enough.”

When she first got the extensions Peaches Geldof was bleaching her shoulder-length hair bright blonde. Because of all the bleaching, her hair was not in very good condition and she was concerned about further damage from hair extensions.

Peaches Geldof made the decision to go with Monofibre® hair extensions for several reasons. First, they are more ethical than human hair. She did not like the idea of having someone else’s locks glued to hers. Second, the extensions are much lighter in weight and attached in a way that would not cause further damage to her already-damaged hair. And third, she could continue coloring her hair and not worry about damaging the extensions since they are non-porous and will not absorb anything.

Peaches Geldof mentions that one down-side of getting hair extensions is the up-keep. She returns to Antenna Salon for a tidy-up every month. The extensions last around three months before they need to be removed and replaced. She adds, “No matter how you look at it, having long hair is expensive and time-consuming. Whether you are getting hair extensions, regular blow-dries, color or highlights, you will need to invest time and money for the best results. I feel that hair extensions are well-worth the time and money. I was able to get a glamorous look in just a few hours, instead of a few years.”

The daily hair styling routine is fairly uncomplicated. Peaches Geldof takes us through a typical day– “When I have the extensions in, I usually wash my hair with products designed for extensions, such as Antenna’s aftercare products from Dome Cosmetics. I then follow with a deep-conditioning serum or masque as my hair gets quite dry. I spray my hair with a heat-protection spray and blow-dry my real hair, and the extensions which are already straight.”

Many other Antenna hair extension clients have nothing but good things to say about Monofibre® hair extensions. Charmaine Rose, Extreme Makeover 2005 contestant says, “My hair has never looked better than when I started wearing Monofibre® hair extensions. They are much easier to maintain than I imagined. I feel and look much more feminine and I highly recommend, when in London, booking an appointment at Antenna!”

More about Dome Cosmetics

Founder Simon Forbes invented Monofibre® hair extensions over 20 years ago by fitting two things together. He picked up old implements and introduced new technology and knowledge to these instruments to find that they can be incredible things.

Simon Forbes says, “If you’re going to be a hairdresser you’re lumped with the human head. You’re stuck like an artist with the same medium which is hair. That was the starting point for Monofibre®. It is very versatile and doesn’t have a mind of its own.”

The Monofibre® is designed in England and manufactured in China. It has a proprietary element that results in the highest quality acrylic fibre hair. The hair provides a soft silky feel that is incomparable to other inferior quality fibres on the market today. Monofibre® gives length and volume, as well as color and texture and so in itself it transcends fashion. The extensions are for anyone, including those suffering from hair loss. There are no side effects in the short or long term.

Simon Forbes adds, “What I’ve never been really able to understand is how someone can wear second-hair (human hair) on their head. I mean it’s the last thing I’d want to do is wear somebody else’s hair. If the hair is coming from people who have had some terrible misfortune in their lives,…then to stick it on a woman’s head with glue (who probably has a £2000 Chanel Hand bag hanging from her shoulder )…there’s something very immoral in that.”

Simon Forbes recommends the use of the Dome Aftercare product range to keep the extensions in pristine condition. The range consists of Frequent Use Shampoo, Intense Conditioning Treatment, Daily Care Mist and a soft bristle Dome brush. An aftercare leaflet is also included to give you top tips on how to maintain your Monofibre® hair extensions

Simon Forbes sees a continuing growth of hair extensions as a service. It is a source of revenue for salons that potentially outperforms any other service within the industry. Dome Cosmetics continues to train and certify hundreds of stylists every year in Monofibre® hair extensions.

According to gerontologist (aging expert) David J. Demko, PhD, Jennifer Garner and Will Smith should live till 91. While Ron Howard might see 95, Paris Hilton is scheduled to check out by 74. Fortunately for Paris, she could easily add 8 years to her life by changing her diet and getting more sleep. Meanwhile, Keith Richards, who should have been dead at age 52, is living proof that “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger”.

How long will YOU live? According to Demko you can estimate your life expectancy by answering a series of questions. he affectionately calls the “Death Calculator”. Beginning with age 79 (the average life expectancy in modern cultures), the calculator adds or subtracts years based on your answers to the quiz questions. Your final score is an estimate of your current life expectancy. If your score is low, you have plenty of time to heed this early warning and redirect you life toward more positive living.

Here are some thought provoking questions that are included in the 55 question “Death Calculator”.

1. Where is your ancestral home? (if not given, enter a score of 0). US = minus 2. Austria-UK = minus 1. Canada-France-Italy = 0. Australia-Singapore-Sweden = plus 2. Japan = plus 3.

FACT: Life expectancy varies by nation due to genetic and cultural differences.

2. What is your gender ? Female = plus 1. Male = minus 2.

FACT: Life expectancy favors the female gender regardless of culture.

3. Do you have an annual physical exam? Yes = plus 3. No = minus 3.

FACT: Many diseases (cancers, hypertension) in later life are asymptomatic, go unnoticed and untreated.

4. Do you have parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who lived to 85-plus? Add 2 for each 85-plus relative.

FACT: Research demonstrates that long-lived parents tend to produce long-living children.

5. Do you volunteer on a weekly basis? Yes = plus 2. No = minus 1.

FACT: Studies confirm that volunteering focuses attention away from ourselves and onto others.

6. Do you live alone? Yes = minus 3. No = 0.

FACT: Adults who live alone tend to be less well-nourished, more isolated, and less nurtured.

7. Are you able to laugh at and learn from your mistakes? Yes = plus 1. No = minus 3.

FACT: Laughter, humility, and a positive outlooks are linked to increased life expectancy.

8. Do you have a confidant who listens to your most intimate concerns? Yes = plus 1. No = minus 2.

FACT: Confidants offer emotional catharsis and a sense of personal worth to those in crisis.

9. Do you engage in daily mental exercises such as puzzles, games, learning or problem-solving? Yes = plus 4. No = 0.

FACT: Individuals that continually challenge their minds suffer fewer cognitive disorders.

10. Do you engage in some form of daily aerobic exercise such as swimming, jogging or biking? Yes = plus 2. No = 0.

FACT: Exercising at one’s target heart rate strengthens the heart and boosts metabolism.

Demko outlines an easy-to-follow strategy incorporating physical, mental, nutritional and environmental modifications that will slow the aging process, such as the benefits of eating a daily serving of oatmeal; having friends who are a variety of ages; reducing your daily caloric intake by 20%; and having a religious or spiritual connection. He offers no “miracle” cures or dietary supplements, just pure common sense combined with scientific proof.

Barbara Kimmel is an award-winning book publisher, publishing consultant and publicist. She is the publisher of David Demko’s new book, "Live Well Now: Dr. David Demko’s Anti Aging Plan to Youth’n Your Life." (http://www.nextdecade.com)

It used to be whatever the dominant beauty brands told us to buy; one could say almost a limited concept of taking care of our skin. Today, we are now facing interesting choices when shopping for beauty products.

Age Old Secrets Nature holds pearls of wisdom that enhance life’s splendors. Essential oils a perfect example and in their pure natural state is effective for all manner of things. Take Lavender, a very good relaxant and effective for those plagued with insomnia. Best of all, it is natural and therefore, not addictive.

We’ve rediscovered plant oils. Research has shown that some plant oils have much smaller molecules allowing them to penetrate into the upper layers of our skin. This offers the skin not only moisture but the additional benefits of nourishment.

Age old secrets with today’s technology are bringing us innovative formulas and rich blends. A perfect example is Green Tea Extract, a powder which is extracted from the leaves. Green tea offers us powerful antioxidants beneficial to human health.

Magic Potions The skincare market is now the arena of a fierce battle between prestige and mass outlets. In the mist of this battle, the cosmetic industry now increasingly looks to the organic or natural skin care niche as the newest in a long series of "innovations" to drive their market, constantly repackaging "hope in a bottle."

Except, nature gives us an amazing array of botanical ingredients and essential oils that naturally protect and nourish our skin. Essential oils are made from the distillation of flowers and provide tremendous benefits to our skin. For centuries, plants and herbs have been used for the vitamins and nutrients they deliver to the skin.

Some natural skin constituents, such as: ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), hyaluronic acid (found in plant oils), vitamin E, collagen (new technology has produced collagen from soy and wheat), lactic (goat’s milk) and citric acids, can also be found in natural beauty products.

The skin recognizes these ingredients as compatible with those already in the skin, so there is minimal risk of a sensitive/allergic reaction.

Truth Serum What we now know that to feel good about ourselves is by taking care of our looks - because beauty and health go hand in hand. Great looking skin arrives by limited sun exposure, good health and finding the right products for your skin. And, that the finest make-up in the world cannot disguise the effects of poor nutrition, lack of sleep, exercise, too much stress or emotional problems.

We also know that as more and more traditionally ‘mainstream’ customers begin adopting natural ingredients, the demand for efficacy data and documentation grows. Perhaps we’ll start to see a list of ingredients in all skin care products. We can start with commercial soaps, which most are made of detergents leaving the skin dry.

Because after all with perfect beauty as an elusive concept; consumer education should therefore be an important part of this business.

Celebrity Hair - The Secret is in the Products

Everyone loves celebrity hair. It seems like most famous people never have a bad hair day. Okay, aside from Donald Trump. What’s their secret? Is it in their genes, or do they have secret weapons against bad hair days?

While some people may genuinely have smooth, lustrous hair naturally, the majority of people you see with envy-inducing hair are the product of excellent styling and hair products and tools, mixed with a good stylist and a great haircut. Oh yeah, and sprinkle in some dietary supplements and a good diet rich in hair-friendly nutrients. This equation results in fabulous, silky, vibrant hair that will be the envy of many.

So, what are the secrets to the healthy and beautiful locks of celebrities? As previously mentioned, the selection of hair products and hair styling tools is crucial, no matter what you’ve heard. Not only that, but tendency to use too little product in an effort toward conservation is a common mistake. If you are using a hair creme or gel designed to smooth the hair or make curls less frizzy and more uniform, do not skimp. Skimping on the products will reduce their effectiveness.

Another good tip used by hairstylists and recommended by several top beauticians is to periodically use a vinegar rinse on your hair. The acid in the vinegar helps to rinse away residue on the hair left by dirt and styling products, and leaves the hair shiny and smooth due to the acid content. It may not smell too pleasant, but it really works to clean the hair and remove the residue that causes dullness.

Want Straight, Shiny and Smooth Hair?

If you’re looking to get straight, manageable and shiny hair, there are some excellent styling tools that were previously only used by high profile celebrity stylists at a pretty penny that are now available for sale online and in salons. These hair straightening irons are made of material that does not damage the hair with hight heat, but actually helps seal the cuticle and make the hair appear shinier and healthier, while keeping it smooth for hours.

The hair dryer you use is also very important if you’re looking for a straight and smooth style. Be sure to pick one that says it uses Ionic technology, and also make sure the dryer has at least 1875 watts of power. Any less than that, and you will find that you are drying your hair longer, and it will look drier and more brittle because of the longer use.

As far as shampoos and conditioners go, I would not recommend choosing a shampoo that boasts "clarifying" or "formulated for oily hair". These types of formulas usually produce a lot of lather and really feel like they’re cleaning your head and hair, but really they strip your hair of the natural oils they need to stay healthy and shiny and will make your hair more brittle.

Instead, opt for a shampoo that is formulated for normal to dry hair. Then, even if you have oily hair or an oily scalp, at least you are still getting the cleansing you need without the stripping and dryness.

The same theory should be followed for your conditioner. Conditioners that have moisturizing ingredients and are advertised as adding shine and manageability are your best options. These formulas are usually targeted to seal the individual strands of hair and protect them from humidity, frizz and split ends.

When preparing your hair for a blowing dry after cleansing and conditioning, be sure to use a wide tooth comb rather than a brush when it is wet. This avoids a lot of breakage. Also, when blowing out the hair, use a natural brush that is as large around as you can find. The larger the brush used in the blowout, the straighter and shinier your hair will be.

A good recommendation followed by some of today’s most famous women at the advice of their stylists is to sleep on a satin pillowcase. Doing this assures that you are not causing friction and split ends at night. Not only that, you will wake up with hair that is almost exactly as you left it at night, since the satin material allows your hair to glide smoothly without damage or drastic displacement as you move your head around in your sleep.

Another recommendation is to take a good dietary supplement, more specifically one geared toward nail and hair growth and health. These hair supplements can really give you a boost in the internal nutrients such as biotin and amino acids that your hair needs to stay glossy and lustrous.

Follow these guidelines, and I can assure you, it will give you the power to achieve the hair you’ve always wanted. And, of course, it doesn’t hurt to have "good hair genes".

Ever turn on the television and become instantly infatuated with the latest celebrity hair style sported by Jennifer Aniston or other highly-emulated celebrities? If so, you are not alone. In fact, most fashion trends actually begin after a celebrity has worn them and the same is true when it comes to celebrity hair styles.

Just think of Ashton Kutcher and how many men now wear his tousled celebrity hair style. How about Kate Winslet and all of her manifestations? The truth is that styling your tresses similar to a celebrity hair style is hot. But should you always turn to celebrities to find your latest style, and how can you mirror the celebrity hair style when celebrities have a staff of professionals catering to their every hair whim?

There are good reasons on both sides of the equation when it comes to choosing a celebrity hair style. For some, a celebrity hair style can be the perfect answer when they find themselves in a style slump. For others, choosing a celebrity hair style can be a big mistake. Here are just a few of the pros and cons when it comes to celebrity hair styles.

Why you should copy

1. Celebrities have access to some of the most talented and highest paid beauty professionals in the industry. While you may not be able to afford a consult with one of these style legends yourself, you have the perfect opportunity to see and emulate their work with a celebrity hair style.

2. For the most part, celebrities are on the cutting edge of fashion. When you choose a celebrity hair style, you do not have to worry about looking dated or being out of style.

3. C’mon let’s face it. We look up to celebrities because they always look fashionable and beautiful. If you are looking for a celebrity hair style to pull your look together, then there is no better place to look than to the stars.

Why not to copy

1. Celebrities are seen by virtually everybody, and when a new celebrity hair style causes a sensation, you can be sure that everyone will be trying to emulate it. So, while you may be thinking that you are going to look sensational with your new celebrity hair style, you may end up looking like a copy cat.

2. Celebrities do not have to choose easy styles because they have hair stylists and make-up artists solely dedicated to making them look beautiful. On the other hand, you probably do not. So, be careful not to choose a celebrity hair style that will have you pulling out your hair when you have to spend hours keeping it up.

3. Stylists to the stars choose particular celebrity hair styles for their clients because they are perfect for their face shape and type and texture of hair. Not everybody can pull off every style. Be careful not to choose a celebrity hair style that makes you look ridiculous.

While there are pros and cons to everything, choosing a celebrity hair style should be something that you give some thought to before making a final decision. Not everyone is worth millions, but you can look like you are if you choose your celebrity hair styles wisely.
