People are unclear (including me) how to fight against blackheads and whiteheads. Every product claims they eliminate blackheads and whiteheads. The truth is blackheads and whiteheads are hard to accept they are hard to get rid of. It is hard to win the battle against our clogged pores.

Normal working pores produce a normal amount of oil (sebum) that is easily distributed through the pore to the surface of the skin forming a protective barrier. When a regular amount of oil is produced, it effortlessly moves through the pore and out onto the surface of skin, where it melts into a film that forms a protective barrier over the face.

Teens really should only use a water-based moisture lotion labeled ‘non-comedogenic’ which means it does not clog pores, says Dr. Barry Leshin, M.D., associate professor of dermatology at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Heavier oil-based moisturizers can cause an acne-like skin condition directly attributed to the use of cosmetics; (www.fda.gov).When dead skin cells block the path of the oil, you can get blackheads or whiteheads.

Cosmetics, creams and lotions can build up in the pore, along with dead skin cells that can get trapped in the sticky oil. When oil and skin cells are sitting in a pore that is open and exposed to the air, the cells turn black. When the oil and skin cells are sitting in a pore that is covered by skin, they are not exposed to air and therefore stay clear, but form a slight white bump under the skin. AHA exfoliants can both remove the excess dead skin cells on the face and exfoliate inside the pore (to improve the shape of the pore, allowing a more even flow of oil through it).

Keep in mind that the pore itself is lined with skin cells that can build up, creating a narrowed shape that does not allow for natural oil flow. But don’t get carried away with this step. Overdoing it (removing too many skin cells)can cause problems and hurt skin. Exfoliation is essential for both dry and oily skin to eliminate blackheads or whiteheads

Among the many benefits of sauna and steam baths are the skin toning properties. The result is skin that is soft, supple and glowing; in short, beautiful. Regular sauna and steam bath users have a pleasing, healthy glow that enhances their attractiveness.

Mini-saunas are designed to apply steam directly to the face. They offer the same deep-cleaning action as a full sauna or steam bath does, only as a quick facial fix-up. While the best skin toning benefits come from a full-body sauna, a facial sauna system can produce results almost as good.

Sauna and steam are healthy for the skin because of the deep-cleaning action caused by heavy perspiration. All the accumulated dirt can easily wash out when the pores are opened wide.

How They Work

A facial sauna has an electric heating element at the bottom of the unit that heats water held in a small reservoir. Once the water reaches the boiling point, steam begins to rise. A small reservoir ensures that steam is produced quickly.

An ergonomically designed mask is positioned over the reservoir, funneling the steam directly to your face. To control the amount of steam, just move your face back from the mask. To get maximum deep cleaning action, bring your face into direct contact with the mask. This position should be held briefly. Every 10 seconds, raise your head to allow cooler air to mix with the steam. Repeat the cycle as often as you wish.

Facial saunas are also useful for unclogging stuffed sinuses. Anything from a simple cold to more serious conditions such as bronchitis, sinusitis, asthma, and hay fever may be improved by using a facial sauna as an inhaler or vaporizer. Some facial saunas have a detachable inhaler. Rather than fitting over the entire face, it fits directly over the nose and mouth. Simply breathe in the steam to relieve sinus pain almost immediately.

Operating Tips

Most facial saunas have a very small reservoir, so the water can heat up fast. The downside is that the water evaporates quickly. So, if you wish to use the sauna for an extended session, you should keep a tall glass of water by your side. This way you can quickly refill the reservoir when it goes dry.

Steam is great for deep cleaning the skin, but for an additional beauty treatment you can add special cleaners such as tea tree oil to the water. Just a few drops of this oil will give your skin an even brighter glow and leave it feeling fresh and supple.

Facial saunas are affordable for almost any budget, usually costing less than $60. So now everyone can enjoy the deep-cleaning action of a facial sauna and have ‘glowing’ skin.

Stretch marks are a common dermatological problem for men and women. A stretch mark is actually a scar. They occur when our skin needs to be stretched too quickly and the inner layer of the skin, the dermis, tears. Some examples might be, a sudden weight gain, pregnancy or puberty, during growth spurts, even sudden weight loss, in some cases can leave stretch marks.

The normal production of the major protein that makes up the connective tissue in our skin, collagen, is disrupted. Our skin is stretched thin and loses its elasticity. At first, due to the dilation of capillaries, the stretch marks may appear pink or red-colored. While trying to heal the wounds, the production of collagen is increased in the overstretched tissue, resulting in the familiar scars.

A lot is said about the prevention of stretch marks, but what can we do to remove them if they are already formed? Can we get rid of them? Or should we just learn to live with them? Let’s take a look at some of our best options:

—In the early stages, when stretch marks are still pinkish, apply several moisturizing creams and oils to make them less intense while they are maturing. Massage the area daily with body oil. Olive oil is said to be the best. Vaseline also works, any cream rich in vitamin E, different types of butter, cocoa butter, coconut butter and shea butter being the best.

—Micro-dermabrasion can also help. It is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair skin conditions. The micro-dermabrasion technique abrades the skin with a high-pressure flow of crystals, which stimulates the formation of new collagen and elastin. This causes the attenuated epidermis to heal more effectively, making stretch marks heal and become much less noticeable.

—You can also use medicines known as retinoids, which are derived from Vitamin A. Vitamin A is known to stimulate collagen renewal underneath the skin, healing the tears gradually.

—Creams containing alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) can be of some benefit also. AHAs are usually derived from fruit. They are actually fruit acids. These creams can improve your skin texture and color by increasing cell regeneration. AHAs remove the top layer of cells causing healthier ones to come to the surface. This will help improve the appearance of the stretch marks.

—You can also use laser light as an expensive but effective treatment, if used during the early stages. Dermatologists use a pulsed dye laser to fade red marks. A new type of laser has been used more recently, that can fade away mature light-colored marks. This type of therapy requires multiple treatments. Also, some pain may be involved, although it’s minimal. A few patients with darker skin tones have been reported to have some post-procedure pigmentary alteration, which is usually temporary.

—If the stretch marks appear on your belly there is a final solution, plastic surgery. During this procedure much of the skin below the belly button is removed. Stretch marks in this area are also removed with the skin.

These stretch marks treatments may, or may not be effective, according to your skin’s complexion and the extent of the damage. If you are planning to take drastic measures consult a dermatologist and be informed of the cost, effectiveness of the preferred method and side effects, if any.

If you re-read the title of this article I think you will see that embedded in it are two interesting beliefs:

1. That you are not fully in control of your physical body and,

2. That you likely think that you and your body are two separate things.

I would like to suggest that belief 1) above is in fact "the result of" belief 2).

Let me explain.

We have become so seduced by religions, over the history of humanity, into "thinking" of ourselves in terms of a "body" and "spirit" that these two "things" have essentially become separated from each other.

I think you recognize that the "YOU" that wants your body to remain healthy and youthful often has ultimately very little control over the "YOU" that is your body and that ages and eventually loses it’s functionality over time.

Does it "feel" natural or even desirable to you to be experiencing such a disconnection between these two YOU’s?

Would YOU prefer to have these "two" YOU’S living in harmony together?

Isn’t it interesting that they seem to have two different journeys?

In my work with individuals it has been my experience that this "disconnection" or "misalignment" is:

1. Not natural to us.

2. That it is the result of many faulty beliefs that we carry within us about "who we are".

3. That these faulty beliefs can not only be exposed but they can be eradicated permanently from one’s consciousness, and that by do so,

4. One can re-experience the alignment and harmonious "unity" of body and spirit as "one" entity, YOU.

Why would anyone wish to pursue this?

Well if you consider what it "feels" like for the "two’ YOU’s to be on separate journeys I think there you will find the motivation to consider another option.

If you would like to re-establish the harmonious unity that you have likely been searching for throughout your life you may wish to visit the web link below and listen to the very special message I have posted for you there.

As the weather becomes colder, proper nail care becomes more and more important. Here is the list of do’s and dont’s that will make your nail care procedure easier:

DO’s & DON’T’s for nail care:

Do not put your hands into any kind of washing up liquid

Think about a leftover bowl of a chicken casserole and what happens when you squirt one bit of detergent on that. Now consider what that’s doing to the natural oils in your hands and the natural oils in the fingernails which is the only part holding the finger nails together. It’s totally destructive!

It’s dangerous to cut the cuticles of your nails

The cuticle is a natural seal where the skin bonds with the nail. If you open a cuticle up, you allow bacteria to have access straight into the blood system.

The cuticle solution

Cuticles should be removed with cuticle removing solution. Also, every time your hands are in the bath for a long time, rubbing the cuticle and moving it back removes the dead cells. They must be very soft to do that and be in the water for 15 minutes.

Beware of fast drying nail polishes

Fast drying nail polishes today have a high percentage isopropyl alcohol (IPA). This tends to make nails dry and crumble. Once the polish dries up it become brittle, flaky and begins to chip off. A nail polish that bonds really well is also the type that takes a while to dry. So it’s a trade-off.

Be square!

People tend to point their fingernails when they’re filing, which leads to filing away the sides of the nail. Because the sides is what gives the fingernail strength, pointed nails will tend to give you splits in the sides. Pointed nails break much easier. They should grow until there is at least an eighth of an inch of free edge before you start to point them. People started to wear their nails square (particularly in the USA) out of necessity because they needed the side wall of the nail to give it strength.

Every thing you touch

… is an emery board. If you have the slightest snag on the ends of your nails, it will cause your nails to rip. Every time you touch something, fingernails bend. Fingernails are meant to bend but every time you do, that snag will open up more and eventually turn into a split. How do you avoid this calamity? Use a very gentle file, never a metal file.

Best beauty tip in the world

Use a thick hand cream, smother your hands in it, wear cotton gloves, then rubber gloves and then do the washing up. The heat will melt the cream, releasing the natural oils and in two weeks even the roughest hands will look like a baby’s bum. The transformation is amazing.

And it’s a way to beat the household blues! It will make the fingernails grow too. The natural oils in the fingernails is what holds them together!

Begin with a healthy diet.

Avoid snacking between meals. Brush and floss your teeth after every meal. If you must snack, make them healthy snacks Instead of snacking on junk food, try chewing on fresh fruits and vegetables, especially the crunchy foods. Apples, pears, celery and carrots are good suggestions. They will aid in enzyme production and the natural chewing of the crunchy foods will stimulate the gums.

Drink plenty of water.

Keep your mouth moist and avoid dry mouth. Remember that dry mouth is a harbinger of dental disease. We also need that water to stimulate the production of saliva.

Avoid drinking soda pop.

Americans consume gallons of soda pop a day. Most is loaded with sugar which obviously leads to dental disease and discolored teeth. Don’t be fooled by a “diet soda” label. Even they have huge amounts of acids that are deadly to the enamel on your teeth.

And, if you thought that just sodas are the culprit, think again. A recent study claims that all those popular sports drinks we buy may not be such a good idea after all. They may re-hydrate the body, but they can cause irreversible damage to the dental enamel.

The study reports that fitness water, sports drinks, energy drinks and other non-cola beverages increase the risk of damage by anywhere from 3 to 11 times!

It should be mentioned that the findings are indicative of long term use. However, it appears that these drinks may not necessarily beneficial as a substitute for plain old-fashioned fresh water!

Bleaching.

This process involves the application of a rubber shield or a gel to your gums before work commences. This is necessary in order to prevent harm to the soft tissue. Bleaching material is then applied, sometimes using a laser light to enhance the procedure. The process may require several visits to the dental office.

Kits for bleaching are available for home use and you might discuss choose to discuss that possibility with your dentist. The actual bleaching agent is carbamide peroxide solution. It usually comes as a gel and placed in a mouthguard. The frequency and length of treatment will vary from person to person depending on the amount and intensity of whitening you desire. This should be discussed with your dentist before proceeding.

Occasionally there is some soft tissue irritation. If you experience any side effects from using the agent, contact the dentist immediately.

Teeth whitening strips.

Teeth whitening strips are simply cool!

These are probably the most convenient advancement in dental care in decades taking the concept of tooth bleaching to an entire new level of speed and convenience.

The whitening strips contain hydrogen peroxide which is embedded in transparent material that fits over the teeth. Almost totally undetectable when worn, the peroxide goes to work as soon as they are activated by the moisture in your mouth. (Another good reason to avoid dry mouth!)

There are several brand names on the market and all work pretty much the same. They are applied over the teeth and worn for 30 minutes twice a day for 21 days, or you may select the type that can be worn overnight whitening the teeth while you are sleeping.

How long the effects last will vary depending on diet and lifestyle. Your teeth will stain again, but you can lengthen the time between incidences by avoiding tobacco, tea, red wine, colored juices, curry, soy and soft drinks. If you are on well water, you might want to have the water tested. High concentrations of minerals in your water will cause staining of your teeth. Or, you may just opt for bottled water. The results from the teeth whitening strips are absolutely incredible and you would do well to give them a try.

If you don’t wear dentures currently, there’s a good chance that you will at some future point. Millions of people around the world have been fitted with artificial dental plates, bridges, and other forms of denture appliances to make their smile more attractive and to help them eat more easily. Teeth help us to talk, to eat, and to express ourselves in a variety of situations, and without them may put us at a loss. That is why an average person may spend thousands of dollars to regain use of lost teeth by getting dentures.

After getting your dentures, you don’t want to forget about their care. It may be tempting to stop brushing if several teeth have been pulled and replaced by an artificial device. But you need to keep dentures clean and in good condition if you want them to last. Your dentist or hygienist will explain how to brush, soak, and otherwise clean your dentures when you receive them. There are several steps to be followed, and taking shortcuts may lead to stained, broken, or ill-fitting teeth that could become increasingly uncomfortable.

1. Use a dental adhesive to get your dentures to fit properly. Stuffing them into your mouth any old way can lead to sores or an improper fit, which could throw off your chewing and speech. Work with your dentures at first until you develop a routine for getting them into your mouth smoothly and easily. It won’t take long, and the results will be worth it. If the adhesive irritates your mouth or doesn’t work right, ask your dentist to recommend another product. He or she may be able to provide samples.

2. Brush your dentures daily. Use the toothpaste recommended by your dentist. Treat them as well as you would your original teeth. Then soak them in the suggested solution overnight unless you plan to wear them while sleeping. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly to remove excess toothpaste or soaking solution. Use mouthwash as needed for extra anti-bacterial assistance and oral freshness.

3. Report any problems to your dentist. If the dentures chip, bend, or otherwise get broken or warped, let your dentist know so they can be quickly repaired. Leaving them out of your mouth for more than a day or two may cause your mouth to regain its former position, which will make it difficult to start wearing the dentures again when they have been repaired or replaced. Also let the dentist know if you experience any sores, a bad taste, or other generalized problems with your mouth after you begin wearing dentures.

Denture care is not difficult, but it needs to be practiced consistently for good results. Don’t neglect any remaining original teeth you have, but rather give them great care to keep them as long as possible. Let your dentist know if you develop tooth sensitivity or discomfort that may signal a cavity. Heading off major problems can help your dentures to work more effectively and for longer periods of time.

It’s been a hard day and your feet are tired. How about giving them a pedicure? We all want healthy happy feet and to get them we need to start by giving ourselves a professional pedicure but in the comforted of your home. Your feet will feel good and so will you.

Start off by filling a large basin with warm water for a long foot soak. Add some rosewater or essential oils for a true deep relaxation as well as soften calluses and corns. The more cracked & calloused your feet, the longer they need to stay in.

Remove the any old polish from your toe nails. Clean under the toenail and then clip. It’s best to use high quality clippers made for clipping toenails. To avoid ingrown nails, cut nail straight across, leaving about 1/8" of length. Make sure your nail doesn’t extend over the tip of your toe.

To get a soft square shape, file nail around the corners slightly using a emery board in one direction. Don’t use metal files, they’ll rip your nails if you’re not really careful. Basic emery boards are best for smoothing away any tears or breaks.

Emory boards usually come with two sides, the fine-grade surface is for smoothing the nail edge, while the coarser surface is for shortening and shaping nails.

Rub cuticle remover to the base of each nail & rub it in. Leave on for a minute, then use an orangewood stick to gently push with a circular motion everywhere where skin meets the nail (including the sides). If you want to trim cuticles, do so carefully and sparingly with special cuticles trimmers. It is just safer for your toes.

Using a skin file or loofah, remove dead skin from soles of feet, zeroing in on heels and balls of feet. Pumice stone also can remove calluses and dry spots. You’ll want to scrub the balls, bottoms & sides of your heels & around the toes.

Massage an exfoliating cream into the skin, rubbing it all the way up the calves. Rinse off, and dry feet thoroughly including between the toes and then apply a moisturizing lotion especially made for feet. Try a lotion with peppermint because there is something in peppermint that is wonderful for feet.
Re-hydrate cuticles by rubbing in a dab of cuticle oil. Wait two to three minutes.
If you are going to polish your toes then use acetone-free remover to get rid of any excess oils on the nails (including the cuticle oil you just applied). This is just to make sure that the polish will stay on.

Apply a base coat to fortify and protect the nails using three strokes, one down the middle, then one on each side. Try not to get paint on the cuticle. Wait a minute before adding two coats of your favorite polish, then finish with a clear protective top coat. Clean up any errors with an orangewood stick wrapped in cotton & dipped in acetone-free remover.

Let nails dry for at least forty minutes.
You have now just gave yourself a professional pedicure at home and think of all that money you just saved! If you get real good and comfortable with doing it then why not get your girlfriends together and have a girl party doing each other toes and nails? If you need supplies then check out your favorite website for all of your nail/toe needs.

Have fun and be more experimental with the colors you can painted on your toes.Try a little nail art in bright and unusual colors not brave enough to have on your fingernails, can be real fun to have on your toes!

Just remember one thing, if you don’t time for a pedicure at least remove the old polish completely rather than walk around with chipped polish,it just looks better.

Aromatherapy also advocates practices of taking bath using one of those exotic essential oils; for many of us, a hot and relaxing bath is both a way to calm down tired bodies and relieve stress. Further more, a few moments to think, ponder, contemplate and meditate can create wonders for the mind and body. A hot bath with one of your favorite oils adds a new experience to your life, which is otherwise straining and equally boring. Essential oils also called “oil of life”, is soothing and refreshing, when added to your bath tub. Thus, these oils compel us to think over using them at least once a day to feel invigorated. Using the bath as an innovative way of administering Aromatherapy is one of the best for numerous reasons.

Your entire dull skin gets a layer of pure essential oils. The misty vapors rising from the hot water enters your olfactory system and lungs. Your mind will be clear and calm, allowing you to concentrate on yourself and the essential oil treatment. It means essential oils bring a celestial experience to your bath room. The hot bath now makes you, in fact, makes you sweat and tired added with a treatment of oils.

Mandatory sleep or renewed vigor will soon follow such a refreshing treatment. Apart from these soothing effects, you can even adjust the level of essential oils to treat some of your skin conditions like acne and scabies. Another advantage of using aromatic oil is relieving your nervous conditions by making your mental constitution stronger and calmer. Some essential oils are known to be very romantic in nature; few drops your favorite oil will help you and your spouse to relax allowing passionate moments to overflow. It can also simply be used to aid in your enjoyment of your bath, to feel the balminess of flowing water.

Using essential oils in the bath is as simple as adding 10 drops just before you enter the tub. You can add, perhaps, lavender or Rose oils or intricately add concocted bath oil containing a number of oils. It is purely personal and you can choose your favorite oil. Floral oils like jasmine or rose oils, usually make perfect bath concoctions, but one can feel free to use a particular oil or blend for conditions they wish to help.

The good effects of aromatherapy bath directly seeps in to respiratory, skin and nervous system to reduce problems. It is also discovered that joint problems and muscle pain can also be greatly helped.

Though soaps and candles containing real, pure aromatic oils can be beneficial too, nothing compares the advantage of direct contact of essential oils with the bath water. You must note its high volatility and instability, so it is prudent, when using them in the bath and add those drops just before you are ready to enter. You must also trap all those steam vapors by making sure that you draw close the shower curtains. This single action will make sure you are reaping the benefits of the essential oils before they evaporate with the hot steam.

Any bath oils containing extracts of Vitamin E, when added to your favorite aromatic oil, can help the essential oil to linger on the surface of the water faster and usually can be placed under hot running water. If you want to create a lively bubble bath setting or special bath, add a bit of dried milk, a bit of good quality hand soap and fresh rose petals plus your oil. Women will find bathing in rosemary water to be particularly beneficial after a stressful day and/or PMS symptoms. Men can use a pungent orange or ylang-ylang, especially in the morning to get them started for a day of work. Aromatherapy oils and their usage are gaining lots of popularity among beauty conscious people of the world; many personal care industries are using more essential oils in their bathing products, than ever before.

Your hands are usually the first place on your body to show signs of age, and they can make you look—gulp—five to 10 years older than you really are … But it’s not too late to turn back the, er, hands of time.

These are your hands’ glory days: For the most part, they’re soft, plump, and evenly toned. Your primary concern isn’t so much combating the signs of aging, but preventing them.

Cumulative sun exposure is the biggest cause of premature skin aging—and now’s the time to start protecting yourself. Apply a moisturizer with an SPF of 15 at least twice a day. (Try St. Ives Coenzyme Q10 Hand Renewal Lotion with SPF 15.)

If you plan to be in strong sunlight for long periods of time, use a sunscreen that has a UVA-blocking agent in it—either transparent zinc oxide or Parsol 1789—since UVA rays cause brown spots and wrinkles. (Try Cellex-C SPF 30 Sports Cream.)

Once a week, lightly slough off the dead skin flakes on your hands with a gentle facial scrub. Removing this flaky, occlusive layer will help your daily moisturizer penetrate your skin more deeply. (Try Aqua Dessa Honey Buff Facial Scrub.)

Fade minor brown spots or areas of discoloration by applying an over-the-counter lightening cream nightly. Beware: Spots will reappear if you’re not stringent about sunscreen use. (Try Philosophy A Pigment of Your Imagination.)
