The summer approaches and you feel its time to get a great tan this time. You put on your swimsuit and off to the swimming pool or favorite beach. But beware that suntan if done improperly can cause you lots of skin problems.

How to solve the skin problems and those hazardous ultra violet rays? The answer seems to be simple use sunscreens.

Remember not all sunscreens are created equal. If you go for the price you may unknowingly compromise the quality. Always read the SPF i.e. the sun protection factor before you buy the sunscreen.

The SPF number simply tells people how much longer they can last out in the sun without being burned. The higher the SPF number, the longer your skin is protected against the sun.

Let me give you an example. Lets say you use a sunscreen of SPF 15 it simply means that you can be in the sun for 15 minutes linger than normal before being burnt out.

For fair skin individuals a SPF between 20 and 30 is recommended. For dark skin individuals An SPF of 2-4 is recommended.

After choosing an appropriate sunscreen, apply it before going out into the sun. Be sure and apply it generously over all skin that will be exposed. Another important factor is the swimsuits you use. They can cut the exposure from 1 fifth of the suns total (approx. SPF 5) less than 1 50th (SPF 50+) by simply changing their swimwear.

We recommend the sunsmart company for this. By utilizing the exclusive protective technology utilized by Sunsmart, that is exactly what can be accomplished. In short, Sunsmart represents the single most advanced and effective protection that one can provide for infants and young children against the hazardous effects of Ultra-violet light.

Imagine having the ability to cut the amount of harmful and potentially dangerous UV light your child is exposed to from 1 fifth of the suns total (approx. SPF 5) less than 1 50th (SPF 50+) by simply changing their swimwear. But most people are ignorant about these facts.

At the end of summer we want a great tanned skin and not a badly burnt out body.

Always make sure you apply the recommended sunscreen properly.

Taking good care of your skin will add years to your look and remember your skin is the only barrier between you and this hostile environment.

There are two simple ways that you can improve your smile without going to the dentist. If you have stained teeth you can use over the counter whitening systems to bleach your teeth white. The second way to improve your smile is close the gap between your teeth. You can close your gap using “Teeth Effect Bands” which pull your teeth together.

There are a number of things that can cause the light yellow stain that covers your teeth. You can be more sensitive to staining, depending on the strength of your teeth and the enamel which is the covering over the teeth. Staining can be caused by things that you eat and drink like coffee, or tea products, soda and some heavily dyed foods like juices. Smoking can also cause stains on your teeth. It stains them with tar and also causes decay.

Plaque is also naturally developed on your teeth. Plaque is bacteria that is constantly forming on teeth. Plaque is not removed by brushing alone. It can harden to form tartar also called calculus. Only a dentist can remove this tartar.

You may want to seek other options if your teeth are already stained and whitening toothpaste isn’t helping. You can have a dentist bleach your teeth. Having a Dentist bleach your teeth can be very expensive. There are also some new whitening systems that you can buy over the counter and use at home

Another common problem is gap between your teeth. You could get braces to close your gap but it is very expensive. Fortunately, there is an alternative to close your gap called “Teeth Effects” from the company Teeth Gap. The bands wrap around the two teeth with a gap between them and slowly draw the teeth together. They are easy to use and you will start to notice results in only a few days. You should take care of your teeth now. They will stick with you for many years to come!

Please visit http://www.teethgap.com to close your gap simply by wearing a band around your teeth.

Have you ever wondered why women are so concerned about how they look? Why they aim to look like the beautiful women they see on the television and in magazines? That’s because beauty is power!

Even way back into ancient times women were concerned about their looks. Think of Cleopatra or Nefertiti who were beautiful women of their times.

The cosmetic industy is well aware of this and that women will go to great lengths to look beautiful. That’s why the cosmetic industry is a multi billion dollar industry.

When you think of beauty you think of what you see on the outside. But beauty is more than skin deep. And beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder! What one may find beautiful another may not. Even though there is no such thing as a definition for universal beauty all women know how to use their beauty to their advantage.

Men fall for this manipulation constantly. In fact they seldom know they’ve been snared into the web with a woman’s beauty. Of course the know when exterior beauty is mesmerizing them but it’s the internal beauty that they have not idea is working. That pouty mouth, those sparkling eyes, that gentle laugh. The power play of the boardroom and the bedroom share many similarities.

It’s a proven fact men are unable to release themselves from the beauty of women. A quick look, a wink, a big inviting smile, a relaxed posture are all indications that a man has succumbed to beauty. Studies have shown even the smartest men go stupid when entranced by the beauty of a woman.

Remember Sophia Loren, Jane Collins, or Jaqueline Bisset. Think about Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Madona, Marilyn Monroe. There beauty had an instant effect on the male population. Not only their exterior beauty but the deeper inner beauty of confidence and mystique that surrounded them.

These women were all show stoppers without even trying. In fact when asked they felt their features were flawed, but men didn’t see it that way. And yet each of these women were totally different in looks and personality. But each brought a certain group of men to their feet. Each had the ability to take the smartest man and turn him into a walking talking zombie stuttering, and staring.

Remember a beautiful woman is more than the exterior shell. Beauty is the whole woman. Personality, charm charisma, seductive sexuality, a smile, or a stance. There are many elements to a womens beauty than capture a mans attention and lock him into a world of bliss.

There is no cure for the poor male population, no pill to pop, no treatment to make them free of the power of a beautiful women. There are no magic bullets to stop the bite of beauty from turning the male population into a drooling idiot or a walking talking zombie. And until there is women will continue to use their beauty as a weapon on the opposite sex. Sorry guys!

These days most people are aware that UVA rays are not too good for the condition of the skin. Yet, not only are beaches as popular as ever, but there is also a steady growth in number of solarium salons.

Even after all the education about dangers of tanning, for a lot of people a quick “fix” of a bronzed body outweighs the risks of a long term damage. They think that it will take “forever” before any problems are visible.

How long does it take, really?

Working in a tanning industry I have seen first hand the damage that sun and solarium beds do to people. First, little freckles and skin discolorations appear. Then, the skin starts to loose its elasticity. It happens so slowly, that most do not notice it. Yet, when you see two people of the same age side by side, one that tans frequently, and the other one not at all, the difference is striking.

And it is already apparent in girls in their mid-late 20s and early thirties.

In fact, if you tan regularly, at the age of 30 you will have the skin of a 40 year old woman that does not tan. By the time you are in your mid 30s, you will have loose skin all over your body. As the elastin fibres break down, the texture of skin becomes thinner, and wrinkles and creases appear. You will also get large “age spots” and broken capillaries, where the blood has boiled from the heat of sun or solarium. And it only gets worse from then on.

What is your chance of getting of all those results if you sun or solarium tan regularly?

100%

What can you do to reverse this damage when you are older?

Not enough. You can repair the surface of the skin to look more pleasing to the eye, but nothing will repair the elastin fibres deep down in the skin that have been damaged irrevocably. The only way is for plastic surgeon to tighten the skin, but it will cost a small fortune for your whole body to be done.

Does it all mean we should stay white and pasty all our lives?

Not at all!

These days salon spray tanning as well as self tanning products are readily available, effective and very affordable. Sure, you might need some experimenting to find the best product for you, but once you find the right method and product, it is well worth it. Salon spray tanning is not only very quick (especially in the booth), but also cheaper than solarium (see www.best-spray-tan-guide.com for price breakdown).

If you are prepared to put in a little bit of effort and learn how to tan with self tanning products, you not only will get a totally natural looking tan, but it will cost you less than bus fare to the beach.

And the best thing of all? Your skin will stay young, tight, blemish and wrinkle free well into your advanced years without expensive cosmetics, lasers and plastic surgery.

So, what does a smart girl do if she wants to have a great tan, but is not willing to sacrifice her skin?

SHE FAKE TANS.

People are having adverse reactions from their skin care products and our bodies are getting bombarded with potentially toxic substances it can not eliminate.

Wildcrafted Herbal Products have been actively taking part in educating the general public and informing them of the potential dangers of not reading the labels carefully and just buying their skin care products based on advertising slogans and marketing strategies which are often misleading if not down right false…

Below is the report (in part) which was aired on Channel Seven’s Today Tonight:

Expert warns of toxic cosmetics

REPORTER: Glenn Connley

BROADCAST DATE: September 21, 2005 – viewable at: http://seven.com.au/todaytonight/story/?id=24679

Expert warns of toxic cosmetics

A toxicologist has warned consumers to avoid certain additives in cosmetics, saying they could do long term damage or even be deadly.

From moisturiser to shampoo, hair dye to toothpaste, Australians are using lotions and potions daily, trying to look better, younger, smoother and softer.

But what exactly are we asking our bodies to absorb? Toxicologist Dr Peter Dingle said many of the cosmetics that are meant to make us look good and defy age, were actually doing significant, long-term damage.

He said chemical additives, often used in creams as a preservative, could trigger dangerous - even deadly - allergic reactions.

"Over the long term, these are not improving the quality of your skin, they’re damaging the quality of your skin," Dr Dingle said.

"So you’re going to end up looking older and more wrinkled, the more of these chemicals you put on the skin. That’s the incredibly ridiculous thing about it."

Eve Diamante had a bad reaction to a sorbolene cream, usually renowned as a simple, safe product. After a burning sensation, Eve frantically washed her face in cold water to ease the pain.

"The water was drying out my face and it even started to bleed along here, if you look in the photos there’s quite deep cracks and it started to bleed," Eve said.

"My eyes were swollen, I had a red face, but the funny thing was I had a red line to where I didn’t put cream."

Eve consulted a dermatologist, who discovered she’d reacted to a chemical preservative known as chlorocresol. It took two weeks and a layer of skin to get Eve back to normal.

"All my skin peeled off and that took the heat off my face," Eve said. "I still looked quite wrinkly and red."

Melanie Brown’s cleansing mousse freebie didn’t feel quite such a bargain when her skin reacted violently after just two applications.

"It looked swollen," Melanie said. "It was very red, scaly, it had little white pimples forming on top of the redness and it felt awful, it was burning and itching and it just felt terrible."

Leanne Black, 30, reacted to a foaming gel which she said turned her clear complexion into a spotty, inflamed nightmare.

"I just thought it was something I’d eaten or drank, but it wasn’t and it continued to get worse and worse," Leanne said. "And I got some peeling on my nose and cheek areas, and when I put moisturiser on, it would sting quite a lot."

Neither Leanne nor Melanie were sure which ingredient caused the reaction.

Cosmetics manufacturer L’Oreal insisted its products met all Australian safety standards, but Melanie claimed she was not the only one to have a problem with the cleansing mousse.

"I’m a member of an online forum for women, Vogue Australia, and there’s a whole thread dedicated to just this product and the reaction that a lot of women are getting is identical to what I had: the redness, the inflaming, there was one woman that woke up with her eye fused shut," Melanie said.

While chemical preservatives were found in many foodstuffs and cosmetics these days, doctors said people were now also more susceptible to allergies. Either way, Dr Dingle said many of the chemicals were unnecessary.

"There is no need for all these chemicals," Dr Dingle said. "One, you can make simpler products. Two, you can make safer products and just by reducing the number of chemicals that go in people are going to be exposed to a lot less chemicals."

No matter what the label promises, consumers were advised to test a small amount of creams or cosmetics on their hand or wrist before smearing it elsewhere.

Comment:

This is what we at Wildcrafted Herbal Products have been saying now for 20 years and is the reason why all our skin and personal care products are formulated by a medical herbalist and Aromatherapist, and why only herbal extracts and pure essential oils (as opposed to isolated, extracted active ingredients) are used.

After all, you don’t add a beat-carotene tablet to your salad instead of a carrot, do you…?

Also be careful of terms such as hypo allergenic, which are marketing terms and really have no meaning what so ever – you can be allergic to anything, even the most natural, purest form of a substance – peanuts are natural, possibly even organic, but if you’re allergic to them you will have a reaction, which could kill you. It’s that simple.

In some brands of Natural skin care, Natural can mean the addition of one natural ingredient to a cocktail of ‘un-natural’ chemicals; Organic can be as little as 1 per cent organic content…

Doctor Dingle named a danger list of ingredients to avoid.

1. Formaldehyde, an industrial chemical linked to burning eyes, nose and throat, rashes, coughing and nausea.

2. SLS, or sodium lauryl sulphate, which can reportedly affect the brain, eyes, heart and liver.

3 and 4. DEA and TEA, di- and tri-thanolamine, used as wetting agents in creams and shampoos, linked in research with stomach, oesophagus, liver and bladder cancers.

5. Propylene glycol, used as a humidifier in cosmetics, which has been connected with liver abnormalities and kidney damage.

"Sometimes its just the combination of chemicals," Dr Dingle said. "And there are so many combinations that it’s just impossible to actually pick out a chemical that could be causing the problem."

In Anna Bragaglia’s case, the chemical was PPD, or paraphenylenediamine, used in hair dyes.

"My son came into my room early in the morning and he just looked at me and he started crying, and he said ‘Mummy, what’s wrong with your face?’," Anna said.

Anna had put a burgundy tint through her hair at her hairdresser. Within a day, the swelling and pain was unbelievable, she said.

"I think people need to be more aware of the dangers because it has become a society where everyone’s high on looks and everything like that," Anna said.

"So I really think that people need to look into that, read more about it before they start using products which are available from the supermarket shelf and chemists."

By far one of the most important of our beauty assets is our smile. Who can resist an enigmatic sparkling white smile?

You also can’t hide yellow teeth like you can most other physical defects. So you should always be sure your smile is at it’s best.

Perfectly straight teeth aren’t always necessary either, so if you could never afford braces or retainers don’t worry too much.

Some of the most beautiful women I know (and even myself), have never worn braces in their life. And have small imperfections in the straightness of their teeth.

Even some famous actresses have teeth that have obviously never worn braces (think Amber Tamblyn, Kirsten Dunst, Kristin Kreuk).

And yet they still manage to be amazingly beautiful because their teeth are well cared for, and shine like pearls.

So how can you make your smile enviable without spending a fortune at a dentists or on teeth whitening products?

Beauty Secret 4

Whiten and brighten your smile.

For this little beauty secret you use two household items that are rock bottom cheap to buy; Baking Soda, and Peroxide.

Yep, thats how simple it is.

You take the baking soda and peroxide and you make a thick paste out of them. You shouldn’t need more than a tablespoon of the paste.

Apply the paste to teeth, and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes every morning and night.

The most effective way to do this, and brighten your smile, is by brushing your teeth with the paste.

Baking soda and peroxide will not only whiten your teeth but clean them too, if you use them in place of toothpaste.

Then just sit back and watch the results!

Your smile will become visibly whiter, and to boot you’ll save a bundle on toothpaste, and teeth whiteners.

Don’t you always hate it when summer rolls around, and your body is hardly swimsuit or shorts ready?

Or even the rest of the year when it seems impossible to disguise those figure flaws!

Beauty Secret 5

Hide figure flaws and defects.

If you are bigger in the butt and upper thighs than in the hips and waist:

Wear tighter tops to show off your trim upper body, and skirts that taper towards the hemline to disguise your pear shape.

Buy jeans that are a snug fit and are low rise (the low rise will emphasize your small waist and the tightness has a surprisingly slimming effect on legs and butt).

Dresses that end just a little above the knee work nicely for pear figures as they hide bulky upper legs.

The best swimsuits for pear figures tend to be bikini’s that have low cut bottoms with a flounce skirt. This draws eyes away from the legs, and minimizes them at the same time.

If you are bigger in the waist and bust, and your butt and thighs are more slender:

Wear shirts that tend to fall from the peak of your breasts downward, to hide a bulky stomach.

Or wear a snug t-shirt with a button up shirt or sweater over it, leaving the buttons unfastened on the shirt or sweater.

Wear shorts and skirts that are short to emphasize your good feature (your legs).

The best swimsuit for women who are big on top and little on bottom is a full piece that is high cut in the hips.

This hides the stomach, and shows of slender legs and buttocks.

If you are an extremely skinny woman all over:

Wear skirts that flounce out and shirts that ruffle to give you a more rounded appearance.

Wear semi loose dresses that are tight only in the right spots.

For instance emphasize a small waist with a dress that is cinched in the middle but flounces out from the hips to give a curvy appearance.

Wear tight jeans, or loose slacks with a pull over sweater, these will both work well for your figure type.

The best swimsuits for skinny women are of course bikinis. Full pieces give slender women a "little girl" appearance, and are not very attractive.

The bikini’s are best if they’re high cut in the hips and butt. This flatters a thin woman best by showing off her waist and legs.

Low cut bikini’s will also work well with a skinny woman though, if you want to emphasize slender hips.

If you’re a large woman all over:

You should go for just slightly loose fitting clothes. Too loose and you’ll only make yourself appear bigger.

Wear panty hose to make your legs look slim. Avoid overly tight clothes at all costs, this will make your skin roll, and you’ll look larger than ever.

Choose mainly capris and knee length skirts or dresses for summer.

Avoid shorts, mini skirts, or short dresses until you slim down.

The best swimsuit for a full figure is (you guessed it) a full piece, cut low in the hips, and with a skirted bottom.

If you’re a curvy woman (also known as an hour glass figure):

You can wear almost anything you choose to and look good; loose slacks, tight jeans, loose shirts, tight shirts, loose skirts, tight skirts, dresses, bikini’s, full pieces, etc…

So be proud of your figure and choose your clothes with some taste to best show off your unique shape.

Now that you’e armed with these beauty secrets, go out and put them to use. You’ll definitely start to turn heads, and command a respect in people wherever you go.

Because, remember it’s not the shape of your body, or face, or the size of your nose or lips or eyes, that denotes beauty.

It’s the proud way you carry yourself, and the neatness, and good taste with which you pick your clothes and accessories.

Dry hair is equally dull and looks limp and lifeless. It is in dire need of moisture and protein. Lubricants provide shine to your dull hair by spreading on the outside your hair cuticles. Similarly, humectants collect and preserve moisture and refill shafts of your hair and scalp. Simple remedies are-

* You find excellent remedy for your dull hair in moisturizers with humectants, a simple one being safflower oil. However, you should not apply safflower oil directly to your scalp. Instead, take a few drops in your hand and apply on hair ends while it is dry. You need to keep it on your hair for at least two hours before washing it off. This helps to bring in and retain enough moisture through humectants.

* It is better to avoid using different heat styling agents like curling irons and blow dryers as they cause breakage and split ends. This damages your hair.

* If you need to use blow dryers, try with lowest temperature and a round brush. You need to dry hair roots first.

* Apply conditioners on hair ends only and you need to comb through conditioners to preserve moisture of your hair.

* Moisturizing shampoos on alternate days and only water rinsing on between days produces effective results.

* Body sunscreen is effective on your dull hair also, while you are enjoying at beachside or out in sun.

* Apply oil on your hair once a week and shampooing after an hour is excellent for your hair.

* Apply mixture of curd and egg on hair once a week before shampooing is an excellent remedy for dull hair.

* Clarifying shampoos washes away residue from different conditioners and other styling agents. These stick as residue to your hair and scalp and rob your hair of its luster and shine.

* Wash your hair with cool or cold water to seal hair cuticles and bring in bounce into your hair.

* It is best to avoid all hair products containing lanolin, silicone, two-in-one products, gels, and sprays.

* It is better to cut your hair short or to shoulder length for better effective treatment of your dull hair.
