When it comes to skin care products, you will find that a lot of people are very particular about using only natural skin care products. They treat all the synthetic products as harmful to the skin.

So, are natural skin care products the answer to all of our problems? What if a natural skin care product is not available for the treatment of a particular skin disorder? Are the synthetic skin care products so harmful that they should be banned?

Different people have different answers to these questions. However, the reality is that due to presence of synthetic preservatives, it’s really tough to find a natural skin care product that is 100% natural. There are natural skin care products that have natural preservatives, but their cost might be detrimental. Moreover, such natural skin products have a shorter shelf life and hence are not preferred by the manufacturers of natural skin care products.

Some people carry a wrong notion that since natural skin care products are natural, they cannot cause any harm to the skin. The suitability of a skin care product is not based on whether it is synthetic or natural. An unsuitable natural skin care product can harm you in almost the same way as a synthetic one. So, use natural skin care products, but be open to synthetic ones too (you might need them when a natural solution is not available)

Your selection of a natural skin care product should be based on 3 factors:

1. The skin type (dry, oily, normal, sensitive) of the person who will use that natural skin care product.

2. The climatic conditions in which it will be used e.g. hot and humid condition would warranty the use of oil-free natural skin care products.

3. The process for application/use of the natural skin care product. A good natural skin care product (in fact any product) can seem useless if not used in the proper way.

You can also make natural skin care products by yourself, by using the recipes that are readily available on the internet and in the books at book stores.

Use of organic fruits and vegetables is also popular as a natural skin care procedure. Some essential oils, herbal oils, are useful too and are known for their moisturising and antiseptic properties

However, using a natural skin care product does not mean that you can exercise carelessness with other aspects of skin care. Natural skin care products should be used like supplements to the following ‘essential’ recommendations: healthy eating habits (avoiding oily food), regular exercise, drinking a lot of water (8 glasses everyday), and cleanliness. This will then form a perfect and completely natural skin care routine that will help maintain a healthy beautiful skin for longer time.

What are Sculptra Injections?

Sculptra is an injectable filler that is utilized to give skin a fuller appearance.

Sculptra injections are used to improve facial contouring, restore and correct of the signs of facial fat loss. Sculptra is composed of a compound known as poly-L-lactic acid. The material used in Sculptra is non-toxic to the human body. The poly-l-lactic acid used in Sculptra is neither from human nor animal sources. Sculptra is a registered trademark of Aventis Pharmaceuticals. What makes Sculptra different from other products utilizing this compound are its non-animal origins, which is key to eliminating the risk of allergic reaction. No skin testing is required prior to use.

Length and details of the Sculptra injection procedure

The length of the procedure typically runs 10 minutes to 30 minutes per session. A topical numbing cream is applied to patients receiving lip Sculptra injections beforehand to minimize the little in the way of pain during the procedure. Most patients typically do not require a general or local anesthetic for this procedure. An ice pack should be applied to the treatment area to help reduce swelling. Most Sculptra injection procedures are typically outpatient.

Risks and/or complications related to Sculptra injections

The most common side effects include tenderness, redness, bruising, or swelling. These side effects are usually temporary, and if present will decrease over the next 3 to 15 days.

Other side effects may include small bumps under the skin in the treated area which may appear over time. These bumps are not always visible, and often are only detected by pressing on the skin.

Areas that receive a Sculptra injection should be massaged a few times each day for several days after the procedure. Following the procedure an ice pack should be applied for a few minutes at a time to the treatment area to help reduce swelling for the first 24 hours after treatment. To avoid direct contact with the skin place the ice in a cloth. It is also recommend that excessive sun and/or UV lamp exposure be avoided until any visible swelling and redness has subsided. Sculptra has safely been used since 1999 in over 150,000 patients world-wide under the trade name New-Fill.

Long-term results of Sculptra Injections

The results of a Sculptra injection treatment are not immediate, however the results are long-term. Sculptra has an added benefit of lasting over twice as long as similar products, such as collagen treatments. In many cases the results have lasted up to 2 years in patients resulting from the first treatment session. Patients receiving a Sculptra injection will notice a gradual increase in skin thickness. While the long-term benefits alone would be attractive, there are many other advantages to choosing Sculptra injections.

One of the greatest advantages of Sculptra is a more natural composition. Because Sculptra is derived from non-animal sources, there are no requirements for allergy testing. The fact that Sculptra is not an animal-based product may appeal to those who want to reduce the signs of aging while making healthy choices. (I.e. Vegetarians, eco-conscious individuals, certain more or religious beliefs).

What is the cost of Sculptra?

The price of Sculptra treatment will depend on your individual needs. It will also very on your geographic location. The cost of Sculptra treatment typically runs between $700 and $1900 per treatment.

Will my insurance cover a Sculptra procedure?

Because a Sculptra injection is considered an elective procedure, insurance usually will not cover the procedure.

It is a blessing for a child to hear that she is beautiful.

My family is small, just my parents, sister and me. My sister and I are three years apart. Ever since she was born, she received many praises from family members and strangers, on how cute and pretty she was. My mother too – my relatives always complimented how good my mother looked. There are two experiences I remember vividly. My mom, sister and I were at a department store. A pretty lady from one of the make up counters rushed out and said to my mother: your baby daughter is so pretty! Then she looked at me and said nothing. Another incident happened while we were having a dinner with family and relatives. One of my aunts said to me: Noelle, I hate to tell you this, but your mother is more beautiful than you.

These incidents had hurt the heart of a little child of no more than 6 years old.

It wasn’t that I didn’t have anything good within me. I had the brains – evident by my report cards from school. Yet brains rarely impress on first sight like beauty does. It is easy to be drawn to outer beauty. But what about the beauty we have within?

Comparisons of our looks continued throughout our adolescent and teenage years. Each one of them was painful. My mother, also drawn to outer beauty, has confirmed with others who said I was inferior in looks than my sister.

These experiences have prompted me to see beauty in all people. There must be something good in each of us. This is one of the reasons why I am now a personal image consultant, because there are elements in colour, clothing and communication skills that are harmonious to every individual. What is beauty anyway? To me, beauty is harmony. Nature is all about harmony. We can always draw inspirations from it. Take a look at the sky during daytime and night time; each flower; each blade of grass. Each is different, yet each is beautiful.

Yet, it is undeniable that people judge others in the first thirty seconds of meeting. We cannot go against this ingrained human nature and think people should not judge others by how they look, because in reality, they do. How can we make the best of what we have to bring out our outer beauty?

The key word is harmony. If your body is mainly straight and narrow, wear straight lines and stiff clothing. If you body has curves, wear curvy lines and soft, drapey clothes. If you are big, wear clothing with thick lines; if you are delicate, stay with thin lines. If your eyes, hair and skin tones are warm, wear warm colours. If cool, then wear colours that are blue based, rather than yellow based. Do not feel pressured by wearing what’s current. There are elements we can incorporate into our clothes and make up to keep our images current, but we do not have to be a slave to fashion and make up. Just pick out elements that are harmonious to you, and ignore the rest.

Most important, see beauty everywhere, each person you meet. From this you will appreciate your own beauty even more. If you are a mother with a daughter, see her inner and outer beauty, and tell her how beautiful and wonderful she is. It is a great blessing to a child. This is part of her foundation in self esteem.

What will you do today to see your own beauty?

Are you like me who has used over-the-counter acne products, bought anti aging facial cleansers from department stores, or used the top of the line lipsticks? I was a complete fool, I bought into all the “hype” and thought I was using the best skin care products available for my skin.

Was I really caring for my skin? NO…………… Not at all!

Don’t you want your skin to look the way it did the day you were born, you know, before you chose to apply all of those skin care products to your face? Don’t you think the skin care products you are using, may be contributing to the aging process? Diet, stress, environment and everyday life, all have an effect on the way we look. But one of the contributors to aging you can control and I want you to consider….. are skin care products.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) is a skin irritant, skin care products containing AHA exfoliate not only dead skin cells, but the skin’s protective barrier as well. What you may have been doing is trying to exfoliate the dead skin cells that probably were not dead in the first place. What you need to do is allow your skin to make more cells. You may not be allowing this to happen because the products you may be using contain harsh chemicals.

You may be uneducated and find yourself using them and they are not allowing the skin to produce new cells. Some people need exfoliation often, but there are people who only need it once in awhile. If you keep exfoliating, the new cells don’t have enough time to be born and that is why you may be cleansing and scrubbing too much and you may be creating more symptoms.

I see many people who are not educated and they are purchasing these products on the market with very little knowledge or instruction and they may be creating long-term skin damage. What you want to do is slow down the aging process, you may have been speeding it up. You should create the healthy balance your skin deserves. To achieve this, you want the skin to make new cells and by doing this you need to apply the best topicals you can.

If you have been uneducated and you have been using products that contain harsh chemical ingredients for a long time, this will begin to show over time. It may be from the wear and tear of using them on your skin. If you are washing your face two times a day or even one time a day with these products, you may not only be contributing to, but actually speeding up the aging process. In my opinion, symptoms of dull skin are developed by harsh chemicals in products and long term use of the wrong products. Use safe skin care products that are nourishing to your skin, not damaging to the skin.

Your skin may also become red and blotchy and your blood vessels may become more prominent on the surface of your skin. If you are using harsh skin products or products that have harmful ingredients in them, they will strip your skin. Think about it, depending on how old you are, your elasticity of your skin has been breaking down and may have been causing your skin to thin and making your blood vessels to be more prominent around the crease of your nose, cheeks and forehead. The products may have been messing with your skin for so long it can’t even produce the adequate number of cells.

For instance, if you were diagnosed with oily skin, and you were prescribed a skin care product that stripped the natural oils and protective barrier from your skin, when you didn’t really have oily skin in the first place. The harsh chemical ingredients damaged and thinned your skin and the blood vessels became more prominent.

You may also want to change your make-up or wear less of it. Choose make-up products and skin care products that are safe and free of synthetic ingredients. Become educated.

I am sure you have wondered what the truth is about the prices of wigs made from European human hair. From shop to shop you will find a huge variation in prices, anywhere from 300 USD to as high as 10.000 USD (!). So let me take you through each step of the process of producing high quality handmade wigs, and show the real costs.

Firstly, take the acquisition of hair. The cost of hair for one wig (0,2 – 0,4 kg) varies from 30 to 40 USD throughout most Eastern European countries. There is little variation there, but an important additional cost is incurred by high-quality wig-makers who collect hair in an appropriate and well-controlled way. The best wig-makers visit hairdressers and care for the hair themselves, using no middleman. They do not buy hair from wholesalers because wholesalers blend hair, because it is so time-consuming to acquire really good hair.

One simply has to find a girl among hairdresser’s clients that has beautiful, healthy hair and who wants it cut. The hairdresser can offer a free service to such a girl and actually pay her for her hair - and clearly both sides benefit from such a transaction. But this shows that, by its very nature, acquisition of good-quality hair cannot be a simple large-scale automatic process. That explains why outside of Eastern Europe the price of acquiring good quality hair is skyrocketing - not because the hair in itself is expensive, but because of its rarity. It is difficult to imagine a large-scale cheap process of acquiring high quality human hair in European countries.

Second, take the other materials used in making wigs. These are not expensive and their costs do not exceed 50 USD for a typical wig. These are the materials used to produce a cap. More and more wig-makers are now buying ready-made caps, so called "monofilament", which are gaining popularity and their cost is not very high.

Third, take the labor involved in making high quality handmade wigs. This is the main cost factor. Handmade wig needs at least a week to be produced by an experienced expert worker. It takes a week of hard work, with each hair being knitted to the cap with a very small crochet-needle or glued with a special glue. In the case of long hair, the production time could be two to three weeks. Reliable wig-makers knit hair with a double-knot which makes the construction much more durable but needs some extra work-time. Depending on the type of wig, length of hair and type of cap the cost of labor is from 150 to 300 USD.

Finally, you cannot forget other typical business costs like investment’s amortization, management costs, taxes, insurances, rent, and profit. Altogether, the price of a handmade human hair wig made from European hair cannot be lower than 500-600 USD even for the shortest hair. There is no upper limit and it only depends on how much a customer is willing to pay, but before you pay 1000 USD or more for your wig remember the real costs of its creation.

And now for a real mystery. Why are European human hair wigs not made in China where labor costs are much lower than in Poland, Russia, or the Czech Republic? The main reason is no good quality European human hair available in large enough quantities to make profitable large-scale production in China possible. This is because wig-makers in Eastern European countries are buying all of the available hair for their own production. Surprising? — but that is how it is. And that is why most of wigs produced in China are made of Asian hair or blended hair widely available on a wholesale market.

Franek Migaszewski is co-founder and manager of Wiggywigs.com site, the first wig vendor from Eastern Europe selling human hair wigs directly to the western markets on the Internet.

The fuel that you burn which gives your body the power to move its muscles is called Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (or ATP). This fundamental molecule is found in every cell of every muscle, including the heart, DNA & RNA, and blood. ATP Must Be Present and Must Be Properly Available in Order for You to be Alive! In your daily activities, or when handling stress, and when engaging in any athletic endeavor, ATP is crucial to your energy maintenance as well as your ability to recover from stress, injury, and disease.

The Question: If ATP is the source of all energy and therefore of life itself, what is the most important building block in the creation and synthesis of ATP?

The Answer: Ribose!

1. Ribose is Essential to ATP synthesis creation. Research by Dr. Hellsten that results shows "Ribose supplements often one week of intensive training leads to enhanced rate of Re-Synthesis of ATP" suggesting that the availability of Ribose in the muscle is a limiting factor for the rate of re-synthesis of ATP". (Hellsten Y, et al. J Appl Physiol, 2003)

2. Ribose Increases Muscle Recovery. Research in our skeletal muscle salvage and recovery by Dr. Brault show that the "addition of RIBOSE to the perfusion medium increased salvage of Ademines HypoYanthine (essential ansynes in muscle) up to 600%. (Brault JJ, RL Terjung. J Appl Physiol, 91:231-238, 2001) Confirmed by Dr. Wagner et.al. Research that "post exertion muscle stiffness and cramps disappeared almost completelysuggest that Ribose may serve as an energy source" (Wagner DR, Gresser U, Zollner N. Ann Nutr Metab 1991;35(5):297-302).

3. Ribose Enhances strength and Endurance. Research by Dr. Van Gammereu revealed after 4 weeks of training that RIBOSE supplement group improved 88.2% more in gain of strength than control placebo group and muscle endurance was improved with RIBOSE supplements of 63.3% more than placebo control group. The researches concluded "Thus, supplementation with Ribose for 4 weeks may result in significant increases in muscular strength and endurance". (Dr. Van Gammereu, D Falk, J Antonio. Cur Therapeut Res, 63(8):486-495. 2002.)

4. Ribose Increases Power Output. In a double-blind placebo controlled excellent clinical study performed by Dr. Hellstein et. al. proved that RIBOSE supplements taken led to a 188% higher gain in total power outputs following 7 days of high intensity training. (Dr. Hellstein et. al. J Appl Physiol, 2003).

If the amount of money consumers spend on hair care products annually is any indication, most people are concerned about the appearance of their hair and strive to attain beautiful, healthy and stylish locks. In fact, most will go to any lengths to achieve their desired look. From professional salon treatments to over-the-counter serums, hair care is a big business.

The only problem is that while many people are buying the right hair care products for their hair, they forget to follow basic hair care regimens that will guarantee the health and beauty of their tresses. Additionally, many are also causing needless damage to their hair by participating in unhealthy hair care behavior.

So, what should you do to make sure that your hair stays healthy, shiny and strong? Here are 10 essential "must dos" of great hair care.

Hair care dos

1. Use the right hair care products for your specific hair type. If you’re hair is damaged, dry or color treated, use hair care products formulated to repair this damage and add much-needed shine and resiliency. On the other hand, if your hair is oily, use a deep-cleansing shampoo and light conditioner to keep your hair looking its best. The right products should be at the base of your hair care routine.

2. Get a trim every 6 to 8 weeks as part of your regular hair care routine. Even if you are growing your hair longer, it is still vital to make a routine trim a major part of your hair care routine. Snipping ends before they split will keep your hair looking healthy and save you hair care headaches in the end.

3. Protect your hair with hair care products that contain sunscreen.

4. Shampoo your hair only when it is dirty. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to shampoo your hair daily. Doing so can make your hair dry and hard to work with.

5. Turn to a professional for all of your hair care needs. Yes, kitchen beauticians and friends do not cost as much as putting your hair care needs in the hands of a qualified professional, but they often result in blunders that end up costing you more money than if you went to the salon in the first place.

6. Use professional conditioning hair coloring systems. There are many hair coloring systems on the market, and the ones you choose can have a great impact on your hair care costs. Simply put: choose a system that causes minimal damage and conditions hair as it colors. This will save you money when it comes to conditioning hair care products.

7. Stick with one chemical service. In order to keep your hair as healthy as it can be, ask your hair care professional to recommend only one chemical service: color or perm. By only using the service that is perfect for your particular style and needs, you will ensure that your hair stays healthier.

8. Add Texture. By adding texture to your style, through perm or cut, you can greatly reduce the time it takes to style and perform your daily hair care routine. And you will look sensational.

9. Choose hair color that compliments your style. With all of the professional coloring techniques available, this part of your hair care regimen has never been easier. From chunky highlights to soft color, you can greatly enhance your style with the right technique.

10. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed come when it is wet to prevent breakage. The only time you should use a brush during your hair care routine is when your hair is barely damp or dry.

In the end, hair care is a very individualized and personal thing. Feel free to add your own flair and style to your hair care routine, but remember to include hair care principles that will benefit your hair and avoid those that damage it.

The old adage “aging gracefully” is relative. What is graceful for some is not for others. I have found that it is very different for men and women. What happens when we age, besides the obvious laugh lines, or as I prefer calling them “wisdom lines”?

Aging for women brings on confidence, self assurance, energy, drive, knowledge about who they are and a higher sex drive. (More women over 40 open up their own business, change careers and/or go back to work)

Aging for men, brings on loss of sex drive, they are content in their jobs, what they’ve attained, so this allows them to feel the need to slow down, their desire to relax is greater which brings on an overall feeling of “contentment” and they don’t feel like trying new things….. and they are wondering what happened to their significant other.

This also coincides with children leaving for college, moving out and the couple that remains are strangers, literally in the night.

What a cosmic joke that this occurs and it’s hormones that truly plays a huge part in this rise and fall (pardon the pun) in the sexes.

As estrogen lowers in women, their testosterone rises (bringing the ambition, drive and libido) where as for men, their testosterone lowers, their estrogen rises and it brings on a sensation of wanting to “settle” down and nurture.

So while men feel the need to slow down, their significant other wants to spread her wings and fly…..so, this scares and intimidates Mr. Slow down…and rather than discussing it, he thinks a younger body and adoration is the answer.

This is a wondrous time for women over 40 and explains why all of a sudden older women are attracted to younger men and vice versa.

Complications arise as you find yourself attracted to the 29 year old in accounting and feel shame, desire and wonder. This desire can many times lead to affairs of the heart and cause anguish and pain, however, that is a choice only you can make, no judging here as unless I have walked in your shoes, I cannot judge!

So, for all you lucky single woman over 40, stop wondering, pondering and just revel in this wonderful explosion of energy, drive and desire….Indulge in what your body and mind needs and that is the adoration and respect that a younger man will give you.

He is enticed, intrigued and wants to learn….something that men in your age group for the most part no longer desire as they’re “content” with what they’ve conquered, learned and now want to wind down in their lazy Boys!

If you are accustomed to wearing nail polish, remove this first. If your remover is alcohol or acetone free, it may not be as effective on darker colors. Also, some people prefer to use gauze pads as opposed to cotton balls to avoid any fuzz leftover on the nails. But if your ball is wet enough and wiped well, this shouldn’t be a problem.

Next, cut your nails, using a proper toenail cutter and not a fingernail clipper. The toe clippers are made specifically for the nature and shape of foot nails. Cut straight across, leaving one-eighth to one-quarter of an inch, depending on the shape of your toe. Nails can then be filed down with the rough side of an emery board, the corners shaped, and the smooth side of the board used to buff the edges.

Use a bowl, or dishpan from the Dollar Store as a footbath. Soak your feet in warm water for 15 minutes. For a more relaxing session, add some aromatherapy oils or crystals to the water. The soaking will help soften skin that you will be working with next.

Use a cuticle softener around the edges of each nail, and then an orangewood stick to gently push back any skin extending over the nail. Go only to the edge of the nail and no further. If you have a piece of loose skin, there are cuticle clippers that will remove it.

The ball and heels of your feet is where the toughest and roughest skin is. Use a scrub meant for removing dry skin, and put it on a pumice stone or foot scrubber. Rub firmly in order to get the softened dead skin off, but don’t go so far that you irritate the foot.

Now indulge yourself by moisturizing while you massage your feet. There are creams made specifically for foot skin, which will condition it better. Rub and massage it into all areas of the foot, especially the thicker skin portions, and then continue up the ankle to the lower calf. You might also like to use a drop of cuticle oil, massaged in to keep them soft and pliable.

Allow your feet to dry thoroughly before putting on any kind of footwear, or re-painting the nails with polish.

When I was 21 my eyesight was keener, I was stronger, my skin looked smooth, my sex drive was in overdrive and I felt like I could pick up the world, place it on my shoulder and walk off with it. Well now I am 56 and it feels like I did pick up the World on my shoulder and now I have no place to put it down!

Welcome to 50 and over! As you age your pituitary gland produces less human growth hormone than it did at your peak, which was 21. The ideal condition would be to stimulate the pituitary to produce more HGH to prevent aging.

Human growth hormone has been collected by harvesting HGH from other humans and injecting the foreign HGH into the body at a cost of $3000.00 to $4000.00 a month. This application requires a prescription. There is another method called precursors that can allow the level of HGH to go below the level that you are currently manufacturing in your body, which is dangerous as it may cause the pituitary to shut down. The Homeopathic version includes small amounts of human growth hormone that is “activated” by transferring energy from the homeopathic’s hand into the bottle of formulation. No clinical evidence supports this method of production at this time. And then there is the natural way. A “releaser” is natural herbs and minerals that stimulate your pituitary gland to produce more HGH, which gives you a more youthful life and body with no side effects. The releaser should only be chosen that has a clinical history; doctor formulated and be taken orally.

I was beginning to see age spots on my skin, hair thinning, loss of libido, memory playing tricks on me, having trouble sleeping, vision dimming, and the lack of energy. I began to see the benefits of using an HGH supplement that would stimulate the pituitary gland. My cholesterol level has become like the thermometer, up and down like the temperature and wrinkles where I never had them before. Some people want to roll back the aging clock back; I just want to stop it! If an HGH supplement will arrest my aging process and take some time off this body that I have accumulated, I’ll consider it a bonus!

When you are 50 and over you soon grow to realize quality of life far exceeds quantity of years. I watch folks my age and younger now struggle to get up from a couch, groan as they stand after sitting, ache for no apparent reason and I am happy for the discovery of HGH supplements and the myth busting of the fountain of youth.

There are vendors who sell HGH plus other natural vitamins, supplements and minerals. Most are without clinical trials to back their product. I tried to find a product that had a 10-year history and a doctor formulated product that would have no side effects on ME other than natural youth changes. I also looked for a reputable company to buy from that had a money back guarantee and a professional web presentation.
