A make-up or cosmetic bag is essential for every woman who wants to look presentable all the time. If you shop at department stores or even online, there’s a wide range of cosmetic bags available. The problem is you can’t seem to pick one! That’s what this guide is all about - to give you tips and tricks on how to pick that make-up kit that is suited to your lifestyle. There are factors you should consider before jumping to buy a cosmetic bag. Your personal style, durability and of course, functionality all come into play. Read on to know more.

DO

1. Keep with your own style

Get a cosmetic bag similar in design to the purses or bags you currently use. A cosmetic bag is a woman’s ultimate accessory and needs to fit with your entire wardrobe, or a good majority of it, not just what you are wearing at the time when picking out your cosmetic bag at the store.

2. Size matters

If you already have a purse, get a cosmetic bag that is small, portable and can practically fit anywhere. Professional make-up artists and extremely fashion-minded women may need to pick size over style. The Allison Barrett Cosmetic Bag and Bloom Cosmetic Bag are brands that have enough room for most of your cosmetic items.

3. Get functional with special compartments

If the cosmetic bag you choose is equipped with compartments, it will be easier for you to store brushes, concealers and other tidbits orderly and shipshape. Inspect the bag for special compartments - these are usually tough and will keep your things from getting damaged.

4. Make a statement

Cosmetic bags let you travel in style since you can choose an array of designs, sizes and colors. Nylon bags are more popular because it is custom-made with three different appealing designs. You don’t want to be seen with a dingy old purse, would you?

DON’T

1. Overpay!

You can buy a small cosmetic bag from $5.00 to $10.00 or designer bags that may cost up to a searing $100.00 or more. Some bags come free if you buy a whole set of make-up.

2. Choose style over durability.

Cosmetic bags need to be strong and sturdy especially when traveling. Durable types of bags include Europe/U.S. size Conversation and the Wisteria Cosmetic Bag, which is known for its water-resistant lining and vintage feel.

3. Underestimate black

If you don’t have the time to take care of your bag, pick one that is easy to clean to make its shelf life last longer.

4. Put everything in your bag

Choose what things are essential to you. You don’t have to bring a hundred pounds of make-up when going to a party, to work, a girlfriend’s pajama party, or even traveling. Bring the basics - like a tube of lipstick, mirror, blush, a brush, foundation or powder, eye shadow, eye liner and mascara.

Here’s a list of essentials every woman should have in their cosmetic bag.

- A tube of lipstick

It can serve as a blush on too that can make you look fabulous in seconds. If you still have space, throw in a lip gloss for that extra shine.

- A mirror, preferably flat and compact for your cosmetic bag

Double sided mirrors are available for $3.00 to $5.00. Its hard to apply make-up without seeing your face right?

- A set of brushes

These are always important for touch-ups. You can buy a complete kit filled with miniaturized brushes that costs anywhere from $5.00 to $10.00. Of course, it is mandatory that you bring eyeshadow palette that you use regularly - buy one with all the colors that you trust. Don’t buy one that you haven’t even tested on your skin. Mascara and eyeliners are also indispensable for those occasional touch-ups.

- Blush

Bringing this along might be quite tricky because most of them come in big sizes. Choose one that is light, flat and compact. This is a basic element for that natural-looking healthy glow.

Remember, your make-up kit is a miniature version of your make-up case. If your bottle of foundation is too big, transfer some to a smaller bottle that seals tightly. Choose compact style mirrors and flat brushes to save space. You can also bring a traveling toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant and facial tissues.

The history of perfume oils dates back to ancient Egypt when these fine scented oils were presented to royalty as gifts. In modern times, however, when the word "perfume" is said, most people think of department store fragrances, which consist mainly of the concentrated oil and alcohol solution. Nevertheless, as more and more people are finding out about them, perfume oils are experiencing great popularity. Here are some interesting facts about perfume oils:

1) Strength of smell - Perfume oils are highly concentrated and up to ten times more concentrated than department store perfumes. This quality allows oils to last longer than their eau de perfume counterparts.

2) Alcohol - Perfumes have alcohol in them, which creates different smell effects. Most body oils use carrier oils like jojoba or grapeseed oil in place of alcohol. In some fragrances, the smell can change as the alcohol evaporates different scent notes through time. With oils, the scent is more constant.

3) Price - A noticeable difference between perfumes and perfume oils is price. Perfumes have a very high markup and great profit margins, which is perhaps why many celebrities have embarked on the trend of creating their own perfumes and colognes. Perfume oils can be sold very cheaply, or even more expensively than the perfumes, depending on how they are positioned in the market.

4) Body chemistry - Just because a perfume or cologne smells good on you, doesn’t mean that the oil version will. Perfumes only have a small percentage of oil, so they are quite different than pure body oils. This interaction between the fragrance and your body may produce a different scent perception altogether.

5) Packaging - Clearly, department store perfumes are very nicely packaged and thus make great gifts for friends and family. Many perfume oils are sold in less attractive containers, which is part of the reason for their lower price.

6) Uses - Perfumes are only intended for use on the body, but perfume oils can be used to create a variety of scented products, like soap, candles, bath oils, air fresheners, and many other types of scented products. Be aware that there are different types of fragrance oils and that pure uncut oils are not safe for use on the skin.

In summary, whether you choose to use perfume oils or not will depend on the factors above. Try out a small sample first and who knows, you might just discover a delightful new product to add to your personal inventory.

Finding a suitable skin care regimen is like solving a math problem. You need to know what the problem is before deciding on the appropriate tools. Instead of going into the pharmacy and buying everything in the section that looks nice, it’s perhaps better to get an overall sense of what your needs are based on where you are skin-wise, and where you’d like to be. One way to do this is to seek the guidance of a dermatologist who can help you plan a worthy regimen for you to follow. However here are 7 basic concepts to keep in mind in dealing with your skin care issues.

1. Try to use natural or organic products whenever possible.

2. Look for DSR (Dermal Surface Renewal technology), which assists in soothing out the age lines, crows feet, and general dullness.

3. Try finding products that have regisomes. These have qualities, among other things, to help rejuvenate your skin while sleeping.

4. Seek out products that contain Proteo-C as well as Proflavonol-T which offer protection from aging as a result of exposure to elements such as sun, pollution, and the overall environment.

5. When possible, use products that are free from pareben. Researchers are starting to find that parebens are found in benign as well as malignant human breast tumors. Parebens are found in many products used in daily living from soaps and shampoos. And though there is always debate in the medical community, it’s better to avoid certain ingredients.

6. Drink plenty of that good fashioned H-2-0 or water. This will hydrate your skin and hair and get rid of toxins out of your body. Drink plenty of water! Water hydrates skin and hair as well as flushes toxins out of the body.

7. Reduce stress! Do yoga, go jogging, take a time management course or whatever to help manage stress levels more efficiently. This will serve all areas of your life, not least of which your skin.

Following these general guidelines can save you time and money, as well as provide you with a personalized regimen that you can "set and forget", and get on with the rest of your life.

Beauty is skin deep, but it doesn’t hurt to be both beautiful and fabulous on the outside as you are on the inside. Discover easy to follow skin care tips and solutions as well as have high quality natural skin care products delivered to your door.

There are many vantage points from which to find beauty. The side of the mountains overlooking Lake Louise on the grass of the hotel sipping champagne with your most cherished friend is a memory of beauty that will always overcome my consciousness. The purr of my friend and companion as he welcomed me home from a hard days work or the smile on the face of most any person who ’sees’ what little part of life we can partake in to help each other. There are many beauties and no real evil. This will be dealt with in greater detail under Abraxas in the concept segment. In the whole of the ‘brotherhood’ there are many religions and in each one; I have found the essence of beauty expressed by wise and metaphysical or soulful people. In Islam my favorite is Sufism. They make a good point about the poison of negativity and any form of thought that does personal energized harm to other life in this quote:

“The soul who had to sympathize with the whole world was thus prepared that the drop of that poison which always produces contempt, resentment and ill feeling against another was destroyed first. So many talk about purification of the heart, and so few really know what it is. Some say to be pure means to be free from all evil thought, but there is no evil thought. Call it evil or call it devil, if there is any such thought it is the thought of bitterness against another. No one with sense and understanding would like to retain a single drop of poison in his body. And how ignorant it is on the part of man when he keeps and cherishes a bitter thought against another in his heart. If a drop of poison can cause death of the body, it is equal to a thousand deaths when the heart retains the smallest thought of bitterness." (56)

The fear of nature or one’s inner uncertainties has caused many to find evil in places where beauty exists. Once one no longer has to control nature, there is no place where beauty will not be found. It may be a bittersweet beauty such as seeing your lover find a person she wants to marry; when you are an older man with all the love in the world for a person you love in every way. It may be the joy you feel when you know you aren’t going to have to schlep or drudge for money in the socially structured gambit to gain material things. The fears that create the opposite of harmony and brotherhood are the ‘poisons’ which no true Kelt would know as he/she spoke to Alexander about their creed and their honest appreciation for the soul in everything. Nature has no evil and the crooked bristlecone pine that dormantly awaits the desert rain has lived longer than the rash fast-growing ash that sprouts quickly skyward. In the soul that knows it is immortal the idea of change is welcome and thus the warrior’s death is too.

Thus one who truly loves will let all things and thoughts go free and hope to share the beauty of ‘what is’. The Cathars had great ‘brothers’ in the Sufis who few people in the world are ready to accept the wisdom of in that war-torn realm of misogyny we call the Middle East. In my limited appreciation for the beauty of Jesus I see him being the kind of person who learned and changed throughout each day and therefore all the time he spent on earth. Each moment is a ‘Zen’ opportunity for the ‘greater good’. But how many of our ways of organizing social behavior really wish good for each individual? There is no beauty in more of any THING; rather beauty exists in the fullness of each and EVERY thing. Oh yes, the turn of phrases and eloquence that waxes and wanes poetic can be a joy which in the crevices of thought are beauty-full but are they really beauty when they seek to arrange MORE for the politician and his cronies or platform? Alexander is said the first to have declared himself Divine while alive. We are in truth, all Divine. It is a divine comedy to be sure, this thing we call life.

How is one supposed to know which type of shampoo to choose from if there are a hundred brands all scrambling to get the attention of a million consumers? Easy. Listen to the only harbinger of wisdom that best knows what is good or bad for its health - your hair. Though the hair is - technically - a bunch of dead skin cells, they have varying characteristics. Keep reading to find out how to get the best out of shampoos being offered in today’s market, and more importantly, how to avoid shampoos that may actually damage your hair, or make hair fall out.

1. First things first, know your hair.

It is best to get intimate with it. The hair is literally called one’s crowning glory for a reason, it is on top of the head and is the first thing one usually touches first thing in the morning. Haven’t touched your hair today? Go ahead and do so now. Does it feel thin? Is it oily? Is it dry? Full? Coarse?

Permed hair will usually need a shampoo that is specifically manufactured for regularly styled and / or chemically treated hair. If you have colored hair (red, auburn), you will need a shampoo that is not harsh and will not take off the colors you naturally have.

There are shampoos for oily, thin, coarse and dandruff-prone hair. Work from how and what your hair really is and from there, start to search for the shampoo that caters to it.

2. Be aware, beware.

Pay attention to the list of ingredients found on the back of the shampoo bottle! The Food & Drug Administration has checked the elements manufacturers put in their shampoos, but do your own checking as well. This is as according to your own unique and personalized judgment as well as hair wisdom.

Avoid shampoos that contain waxy substances. These harm the hair more than they care for it. Most over the counter shampoos contain wax so be aware of what you purchase. Professional shampoos, though a bit more expensive than the regular ones, usually contain none of this.

Shampoos with ammonium are usually harsh to the hair. Sodium lauryl sulfate is not that gentle. Sodium laureth sulfate is mild and tender to the hair, it is a good find.

3. To feel is to believe

Do not believe claims from manufacturers that one should use their whole product line in order to get hair that is perfectly right for you!

All shampoos clean the hair just similarly as all soaps clean the face and that all moisturizers moisturize. It makes little or no difference at all for your hair if this specific brand is used more often than the other. All shampoos leave a little bit of residue on the hair when washed. This keeps the hair cuticle smooth and clean. It matters very little if one mixes and matches a brand of hair product from another. If your hair feels clean, most probably it is.

4. A lot of foam does not mean shampoo is best

When washing the hair, foam appears because surface molecules pull themselves together around air. A lot of foam means a lot of tiny bubbles. It does not necessarily mean the shampoo’s cleansing ability is good, contrary to what hundreds of shampoo commercials made us think. It only means that too much shampoo was used on the hair. Foam or not, the most excellent way to know how good a shampoo performs is how the hair is after it has been lathered and rinsed by it. Does the hair fly away? Does it appear limp? Is the hair dry? The scalp itchy? Decide for yourself.

5. Ask a professional

Being sure beats the guess work that comes from determining which shampoo to purchase. The only major difference of a professional hair product from a non-professional hair product - believe it or not - is the price.

There are professional-made shampoos which cost not more than five dollars. This is the exact price one usually pays for a regular non-professional shampoo bottle. Quality counts more than being pricey. Pay attention to the contents of the bottle - that is, the ingredients, not the price tag.

Admittedly though, there are expensive shampoo products that come from professionals. But the bottom line is, if you don’t want to compromise your top, go professional.

A few years ago I discovered how to make a simple facial mask that left my face feeling incredibly soft, smooth and looking absolutely radiant. This mask contains kelp, honey, and aloe vera.

Seaweeds have been traditionally used to detoxify the body both internally and externally. They are rich in nutrients which help to both tone and nourish the skin. Seaweed contain mineral salts that can help the skin to hold it’s moisture better, which helps to smooth fine lines.

Adding honey to your mask adds additional moisture to the skin. Honey is a natural humectant that is rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes and sugar. The sugar and enzymes in honey is a gentle exfoliate for the skin. When possible use raw honey to ensure that you get the maximum quality and benefit of this wonderful golden treat.

Aloe Vera has been known for its amazing healing properties for centuries. It has been used to help heal burns, eczema, sores, acne, insect bites, and more. It’s an antiseptic, highly lubricant, and penetrates deep into the skin.

To benefit from these ingredients, create this simple mask:

1 TBSP Kelp powder
½ TBSP honey (raw honey is best)
½ TBSP Aloe vera gel (99.9% pure)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and apply to a clean face. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.

To enjoy glowing, healthy looking skin, use this mask 2 times a week.

I promise you will enjoy this mask and make it a regular part of your beauty program.

With an onslaught of shampoo commercials on TV, featuring models with long, smooth and super straight tresses, it is no wonder that a big chunk of the women population want their hair to look impeccibly perfect. As a result, hair salons offering hair-straightening services continue to mushroom all over. Do-it-yourself hair treatments, hair ironing kits, and other various hair products are constantly being upgraded, with new and improved.

To say that there’s a great variety of hair-straightening methods and products to choose from is an understatement. Women find themselves in a dilemma on what would suit them, and bring out the best results. Among their major concerns is cost. When it comes to hair treatment, does price really matter? Will a more expensive process generate better results, or do cheaper ones suffice?

Factors to consider:

1. Hair Condition

Needless to say, more work translates to higher costs. The curlier the hair, the more expensive the salon treatment or hair product will be.

2. Treatment life span

One has to choose whether she wants her hair to be straight permanently or for a certain period only. While some women prefer to have hair a la Cher for their entire life, others love experimenting with various hairstyles - frizzy one day, super straight the next. A permanent treatment’s rate will of course be higher than a temporary one.

3. Maintenance

When one constantly takes good care of her hair, especially after undergoing a hair-straightening treatment, there will be less frequent salon visits necessary.

$$$$$: Chemically straightened treatment done by professionals in a salon

While there are hair straightening formulas readily available in the market, it is still recommended to leave the chemicals to the experts. The reason is simple: dealing with strong chemicals requires technical know-how of the entire hair straightening process. Also, professionals will be able to evaluate one’s hair condition to find out how strong the chemicals will be used, to avoid any damage.

$$$$: Hair ironing kit

While this hair tool is, of course, cheaper than a salon visit, it does not guarantee lasting results. Hair irons come in various types. Those using metal plates are usually the cheapest, but it is not recommended for regular use because its surface will cause hair damage in the long run. The ceramide hair iron is considered gentler and effective, but it comes with a higher price tag. Using ceramic plates, this kind of iron is smoother, which will result in better flattening of hair. It also has a better control in temperature, that will prevent burning and permanent hair damage. In buying a hair iron, make sure to test it before buying. Thoroughly read and follow the instructions included in the kit. When you regularly iron your hair, avoid using other chemical treatments, such as coloring dyes, because it might result in hair damage. It is also recommended to have a regular trim to prevent split ends from occurring.

$$$: Hair dryer

Amazingly, despite the emergence of newer hair straightening products, the good old hair dryer is still surviving, and in fact, still widely used. Perhaps among the cheapest of hair straightening products, the hair dryer still remains to be reliable in temporarily managing frizzy hair. Like the hair iron its results last only until the next wash. Before starting, make sure the hair is free of tangles by using a wide toothed comb. It should also be slightly moist. Use a large and round brush for better results. Setting lotion, gel or leave-on conditioner may also be applied after blowing the hair to eliminate frizz and achieve a smoother, silkier appearance.

With the amount of importance given to make-up these days, many women just tend to do a bit too much. Getting the right make-up for the particular occasion is the call of the entire womanhood. But beauty shouldn’t be misinterpreted as just by carrying a beautiful face. A overall healthy body reflects eternal beauty which one should be longing for. The idea is to look younger and FEEL YOUNGER.

Here are some precious makeup Do’s and Dont’s which one should know very well before applying make-up.

* Always apply make-up where there is adequate light on your face. Improper light can lead to horrible look. Yellow light compliments your skin the most.

* Don’t go for a colour eye-shadow as a base. Also, apply eyeliner close to the base of eyelashes so as to make them look thicker.

* Always test the colour of foundation or concealer on the inside of your wrist. That’s the place which will give you a good idea of how it is going to look on your face.

* Do apply concealer before applying eye-liner on dark circles under your eyes. Generally, women directly apply eye-liner which instead make their eyes look too dark. Read more eye care tips at http://www.weightloss-health.com/Eye_Care_Tips.htm

* First apply moisturizer and after about 20 minutes, start putting on your make-up.
