The skin, as we are all taught in high school, is the largest and the most visible tissue in the human body. Of course it is. It covers us entirely from head to toe. It is our protective casing that allows us to move freely and gives us feedback on external textures, climate and other things associated with the sense of touch. The pores in our skin also helps us to release internal wastes through perspiration. These, among other benefits and special characteristics, make our skin one of the most important parts of our body – and therefore one of the first things to take care of.

We want our skin to be supple and smooth, yet still strong and healthy. There have been countless skin care products and treatments developed over the years that have helped a lot of people and solved many skin problems. However, it’s one thing to cure skin damage and it’s another to protect it. When you were born, your skin was nothing short of perfect. Therefore, the first logical thing to do is to protect your skin from any kind of damage or unwanted reaction from external factors.

Nonetheless, there are numerous things that can damage your skin even without you knowing it. Some of these would be climate or weather, unknown allergies from food or drink, and the most dreaded skin damager of all – age. Though it’s possible to stay away from harsh climates and food you are allergic to, it is sad to note that age is something that we simply cannot avoid. Everything solid in this world wears out with age. However, this doesn’t mean we can’t do anything about it.

There are various products and treatments available for making your skin look younger and less wrinkled. Nevertheless, the important thing is to keep your skin as healthy as possible all the time while you’re young, in order to effectively help in slowing down the ageing process. The more careless you are with your skin, the faster it’ll develop wrinkles and look older.

Leading dermatologist Greta Winslow of Wade Skin Clinic advises “….always remember that healthy skin is the result of a healthy lifestyle. And by healthy lifestyle, we mean a balanced diet, lots of water (less sodas and carbonated drinks), sufficient vitamins, regular exercise, enough sleep, no smoking, less alcohol consumption, and effective management of daily stress. It’s also good to suggest that the use of tanning beds and some topical skin treatments or medication that are said to provide “instant” results may be more harmful than helpful. It’s always good to consult with a skin doctor for things you aren’t sure of”

In addition to these lifestyle tips, skin experts say that the best way to care for your skin is to cleanse it as often as possible, or at least on a daily basis. They note, however, that the choice of skin cleanser is critical in having healthy skin. Choose the one that’s mild and with less chemicals. Make up must be totally removed before cleansing and always use only lukewarm water.

Tanning beds - a boon or a bane? That is the million dollar question that’s uppermost on all tanning-interested people. The effect of tanning beds is not a subject that can be put to rest quickly as the pros and cons maintain almost a supernatural balance with each other. In the industry of tanning beds, tanning bed lotions, tanning bed pillows and other tanning bed accessories, the effects of use are either little understood or worse, suffer from total ignorance. Here, we try to articulate some basic facts about tanning.

Tanning is a body reaction to ultraviolet radiation, typically of two types UVA and UVB. Both these types of radiation have been associated with side effects of tanning beds where the incidence of over exposure has occurred. The effect of tanning beds that worked on UVB radiation have been well documented, with skin burning being observed frequently. This phenomenon caused manufacturers to shift to UVA-type operation where the effect of tanning beds based on this technology was perceived to be low. However, over-exposure to UVA radiation has been suspected to initiate immune system destabilization. Popular knowledge tells us that over-exposure to the sun’s radiation leads to skin cancer. So sun screens are a must for protection, even in artificial tanning to negate any adverse effect of the tanning bed.

In a way, answering the question "Are tanning beds good for us" is analogous to answering the question "Are French fries good for us". Puzzled? When you have French fries in the right amount, it’s a great in-between mealtime snack, but when you get consistent overdoses of it, you can be assured of the road to obesity. And so is the effect of tanning beds too! Take all steps to ensure that you are safe on the tanning bed. Do your research, ferret the internet and speak to your doctor if it means so much to reassure yourself.

Treat the tanning bed with respect and you will be rewarded with what can only be called ethereal beauty. Have a safe and enjoyable tanning time!!

Think tanning and you will find a tanning salon just a few blocks away. With each passing day, tanning is gaining more and more popularity and is increasingly enmeshed in our society.. And this doesn’t come as a surprise considering the fact that a healthy bronze tan will only add to your glamour and appeal!!

But, not all of us have the leisure or the time to while away hours at the beach with a tanning lotion all over or for that matter make regular visits to the local tanning salon. And there, you have a hit a brick wall. So you think, Man, there are only problems on the road to beautiful tanned skin

Naah, not at all!

Your answer is simple - Indoor tanning beds!!

Indoor Tanning beds or residential tanning beds provide a wonderful alternative for those who have a busy schedule or don’t have a beach nearby to flaunt their figure. It’s a thriving industry out there with new age tanning beds, advanced tanning bed lotions, sophisticated tanning bed goggles and even more tanning bed supplies - all made for the sole purpose of making you even more beautiful and sexy than you already are. Here we try to focus on some of the advantages of a tanning bed.

Tanning beds make for a great option for you if you are looking to maintain your tan all year long. Home tanning beds can save you a lot of time and money in the long run and also provide maximum tanning convenience.

The greatest benefit of a home tanning bed is that it allows you to choose when and how often you want to tan. If you are in a job that makes you work long hours or even odd hours for that matter, you really need to give home tanning beds a serious thought.

Furthermore, you will also save money since most tanning booths charge by the minute, or have a set fee per session. Because it takes a few sessions to establish your base tan, and then many more sessions to maintain it, you could easily find yourself spending more than $100 a month just on your tan. And at this level, it become a no-brainer - 1200$ for a year long tanning stint at a salon on one hand, on the other your very own home tanning bed for the same price. Do you really need to think more?

If you are still thinking, here is yet another reason why home tanning beds make sense. Most people worry about the cleanliness of tanning salons. But you don’t have to!! Not when you have a home tanning bed, where you know who uses it and how, and you can maintain the tanning bed to the highest hygiene standards you could possibly want.

All these reasons makes the home tanning bed a must-have. So just go out, get yourself that home tanning bed you always wanted and find yourself with a gorgeous tan in just a short while!!!

Do you want to leave a lasting impression as your perfume wafts through the air long after you have left the room?

The secret to having a signature fragrance that is instantly recognisable as “You” is firstly to find that fragrance that truly suits your body chemistry.

You may have many fragrances that truly suit you. You may have a different one for daywear as opposed to nightwear. You may have a special one for romantic occasions and different perfumes for changing seasons. If your complexion is olive in nature you are probably more suited to heavier, exotic fragrances. Fair skins tend to react better to lighter, floral type scents. Experiment at the perfume counters. Consultants just love you to try them out. But try them on your skin, not a fragrance card.

Whatever fragrance you choose, its lasting effect is directly related to the other fragranced products that you may be wearing.

Matching body products is called “Layering”

Don’t have your fragrance competing with the scent of your deodorant, shampoo, soap, body lotion etc.

Most designer brand perfume companies produce a range of body products in the same fragrance as your favourite perfume. Thus you can match your body products to your signature fragrance and leave that lasting evidence that “You were Here!” Our sense of smell is one of the strongest in relation to memory.

Make sure you stay in his memory long after the date has ended!

The subject of the dangers of tanning beds use has been the crux of many a debate among beauty experts and skin specialists alike. So before you go and get that tan, its important to understand some key tanning bed facts and the possible side effects of tanning bed usage.

Tanning beds involve you to a simulated dose of UV radiation, much like the sun’s rays and therefore has all the associated dangers of such exposure. Despite expert tips on using tanning beds and popular tanning bed advice, surface itching, blisters due to over exposure, skin discoloration among others; continue to be the dangers of tanning beds use. The availability of discount tanning beds today and the increased life-style changes of the western world have accelerated the incidence of such skin problems.

While the above mentioned problems are frequently found and have easily available treatments, skin cancer caused largely due to exposure to UV radiation is the biggest apparent danger of tanning beds. Skin specialists have identified that fair skinned people with light pigmentation are most susceptible to skin cancer and hence should take extra care in regulating the dosage of UV exposure. If you have a family history of skin cancer, its all the more reason to take extra cautions. After all, getting a bronzed look and being admired by others at the cost of physical hardship is just not worth it.

Tanning beds are definitely a great way to looking great and indeed, if proper steps are taken to ensure the optimum use, the dangers of tanning beds turn minimal. Using good quality specific tanning lotions for tanning beds, protective tanning bed goggles and the right amount of time spent in the treatment can make the experience rewarding and truly enriching.

Like the proverbial adage goes, prevention is better than cure and so it is with tanning beds too. Wish you a safe and happy tanning bed experience !!!

Though we’ve heard the saying, "beauty is skin deep," we all like to look good. Being handsome or beautiful has definite advantages in when it comes to dating and marriage. Who doesn’t like to have a Hollywood smile with white teeth? That’s why dentistry offers the specialty – cosmetic dentistry.

There are many cosmetic problems with gums and teeth that cosmetic dentists can rectify. Gaps can be closed between teeth, and chipped and broken teeth can be repaired. Teeth can be whitened and crooked teeth can be straightened. Cosmetic dentistry is relatively new and has been taking the world by storm for the past ten years.

If you need cosmetic dentistry, you can look in your local phone book or online. Your first appointment will be a consult where your options will be explained to you, the type of treatment you will need, how long it will take and the cost. You will also find out if your insurance will cover the treatment. Usually, the dentist will show "before and after" photographs of different smiles for you to decide on, and based on your decision, the dentist will develop a specific treatment plan.

The three most popular treatment options used by cosmetic dentists are porcelain veneers that are used to repair or enhance your front teeth. They can also be used to whiten the appearance of teeth, close gaps or straighten crooked teeth. The teeth whitening system uses gel to whiten the teeth. It lasts approximately 2 to 3 days. Dental implants are done to replace any tooth that is broken or missing and feel and look like normal teeth.

Invisalign is a method to straighten misaligned teeth without using braces. It takes nearly a year, to get this treatment completed.

Austin has a number of cosmetic dentists who can be contacted by using www.tda.org, the TDA website.
