As we age our skin starts getting wrinkles, fine lines etc. We need to take proper care of our skin to avoid wrinkles. As we age the skin starts losing the elasticity and the layer of the skin becomes very thin. Various other factors also make the skin worn out.

The first external factor, which degrades the skin, is sunlight. Excessive sunlight damages the free radicals. Cigarette smoking is another factor, which makes the skin lose its sheen and texture. Smoking reduces the blood flow in the skin, which is vital.

It is very important to moisturize the skin to lower the chances of wrinkles at a very young age. As we age we will definitely get wrinkles, the only thing we can do is slow down the process and minimize the damage. You need to take care of the skin before it is too late and take preventive steps like using lotions/creams etc, when you move out in sunlight. Smoking is injurious not only to a person’s lungs; it also affects the whole body including the skin.

There are many anti aging skin creams/lotions, which help the skin look young. Taking vegetables and fruits daily helps the skin. Whether you are in your teens or older, it does not matter, you need to take care of your skin everyday.

Most stains are caused by age, tobacco, coffee, or tea. Other types of stains can be caused by antibiotics, such as tetracycline; or too much fluoride. Ask your oral health care professional about tooth-whitening options. They include a number of over-the-counter whitening systems, whitening toothpastes, and the latest high-tech option–laser tooth whitening. For maximum whitening, experts agree that peroxide is usually the way to go.

Supervised bleaching procedures that are done in-office and at-home have become among the most popular treatment options. In some cases, the procedure is performed entirely in the office, using a light or heat source to speed up the bleaching process. In other cases, an oral health care professional gets the procedure started during an office visit and then gives you what you need to complete it at home. Still another popular procedure is one that you complete entirely at home.

At-home procedures, sometimes called night guard vital bleaching, consist of placing a bleaching solution, usually a peroxide mixture, in a tray (night guard) that has been custom fitted for your mouth by an oral health care professional. The bleaching solutions may vary in potency and may be worn for an hour, or throughout the night. Your oral health care professional can advise you on the appropriate type of application and the length of time needed to whiten your teeth, based on the severity of tooth discoloration and your specific needs.

We all more or less suffer from dry and chapped lips, especially during the winter months. Your lips are very sensitive to sun, dry indoor climate, wind and cold weather. Since our lips don`t produce fat, they get dry and chapped. That`s why you should apply fat during the day. Chapped lips can be a sign of fever or bronchitis, but may also be caused by lack of fluid. You should drink enough water during the day, up to two litres per day. Coffee is dehydrating, so don`t count the coffee into the two litres.

You don`t need to spend a fortune on expensive lip balms, you can easily make them yourselves!
Try this recipe:
10 g bees wax
30 ml jojoba oil
1 ts honey

Melt the wax and the oil in a bowl in hot water. Heat the honey in another bowl in hot water, make it luke warm. Mix with the wax and oil and stir carefully until cool. Fill the balm into a small container. Whenever you have an empty container, keep them for later use!

This balm is made from pure ingredients and protects the skin on your lips. It`s easy and it`s great fun too to make your own skin care products!

Walk into any nightclub, and you’re bound to catch a drift of some guy’s cologne. Men today use cologne just as women use makeup or perfume-to enhance their attraction. But did you know that in the early days people used cologne instead of bathing?

Cologne was invented in the 1700s, primarily to be used in bath water. Strangely, it was also used as mouthwash and sometimes even as an enema! People believed cologne could cure just about any ailment. Cologne manufacturers even marketed it this way. Fortunately, we know more about science and medicine than our forefathers, and most of us will probably never take a sip of our favorite cologne.

Back in the18th century, people didn’t bathe nearly as often as they do today. Perfume and cologne were necessities to cover up body odor. Cologne was also used to spruce up the odor of different rooms in a house. (Remember, this was before the days of plug-in scents and fragrant candles.)

What a different status these fragrances hold in today’s society! Peruse any popular magazine, and you will see photos of glamorous men and women in advertisements for perfume or cologne. The fragrances are equated with sex appeal. Perhaps that is why so many men wear cologne when they go out to bars, parties, and clubs-ads lead them to believe the way they smell will determine the quality of the women they date. Dab a little cologne on the neck before heading out, and lean in close while dancing…. It’s kind of like a pick-up assistant in a bottle!

Do women really like men’s cologne, though? That depends. There was a time when it was considered okay to wear perfume or cologne to the office. Nowadays, though, it seems that many people are allergic to the fragrances, and some companies have banned cologne in the workplace as part of the dress code. Still, research studies continue to show that cologne can indeed trigger human pheromones, which can chemically increase sexual attraction. So maybe those ads aren’t completely farcical? Looks like there is more to cologne than meets the nose after all.

Ralph Waldo Emerson very rightly said, "One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye; it transcends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity." Eye is considered to be an integral party of one’s beauty and we at times completely ignoring taking care of it. The unhygienic environment around us along with inevitable aging deteoriates the beauty of eye unless we make a concious effort to take care of it. Here are few healthy tips on how to apply makeup with contact lenses on!

. Always apply cosmetics after you insert your lenses. Apply eye make-up sparingly and take care not to soil or damage a lens. Apply eye make-up on the outer lid margin only, not the inside.

. Use Eye make-up that has been specially formulated to be oil and fragrance free. Use a non-oily mascara which is water-proof to prevent flaking and excessive smudging. Mascara with lash-building fibres should be avoided.

. Replace mascara and eyeliner products very three to six months to avoid contamination.

. Avoid eye shadow that is powder. Use only gel, liquid or cream. Never use eye shadow that is frosted or iridescent. These may contain oyster shells or mica.

. Do not use eyeliner that is directly drawn on the rim of the eye. Keep all eyeliner pencils sharp enough so the wood doesn’t scratch the surface of the eye.

. Remove the lenses before removing eye make up all make-up daily with an oily-free remover.

Random Tip: How to achieve the smoky eyes effect-

. Use a highlighter pencil right under the eyebrow, with a wider sweep. near the end, right on the bone. Blend. Emphasing the natural curves of your eye, use silver eye-shadow on the lid and inner corner, and a deeper gray on the socket crease, outer corner and near the lashes.

. Whip out the eyeliner and redefine the shape of your eye by making the line narrower in the inner corner and wider in the outer corner, to give it an upward slanting, almond shape."

Wash your hands prior to putting in each contact, and then apply makeup.

Your mascara needs to have two magic phrases on its label: "hypo-allergenic" and "safe for use by contact lens wearers".

Never apply eye makeup while in a car.

The odd flake of mascara fiber or the wrong eye pencil can make your eyes puff up or can bring that bloodshot effect which obviously you don’t want, right?.

Random Tip: Home remedy for black spots-

"Try these easy recipes to do away with black spots: Make a mixture of 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and glycerin and apply it on the spots.

Grind dried basil leaf, neem and mint (100gm each). Add some turmeric powder and rose water to make it into a paste and apply it on the spots."

Liposuction (otherwise known as lipoplasty) may be performed in an outpatient surgery center, hospital or a surgeon’s office facility. Some of the more complicated procedures require an overnight stay, but smaller procedures are typically done on an outpatient basis.

Liposuction surgery is performed by removing specific fat deposits in an attempt to reshape and area of one’s body. There are several methods for getting this done, but the basic goal is the same. It is very important to become educated on the different forms of liposuction so that you can discuss the various options with your plastic surgeon and find the procedure that best suits your needs.

There are several types of anesthesia options for liposuction procedures. Under certain circumstances the operation can be performed under local anesthesia without forcing the patient to go under. However, many patients prefer general anesthesia so they are completely asleep during the procedure. It is best to consult your plastic surgeon to determine what best fits your needs for the operation.

Recovering from liposuction takes several weeks. Immediately afterwards there will be some fluid draining involved from the incisions made during the operation. In order to best control swelling, some patients are fitted with an elastic garment to wear over the affected area for several weeks. Patients are encouraged to start walking immediately after surgery which allows many patients to get back to work as early as one week. After around four to six weeks the swelling will subside and you will look and feel like a brand new person.

If you are considering treating yourself to a beauty salon manicure - and why shouldn’t you! - the following are the details of what you can expect to receive from a professional manicurist. Your manicure might not follow this procedure exactly, but it should be very similar. So there shouldn’t be any surprises. So just go and relax and enjoy it!

Here it is - how to give a manicure - in 12 luxurious steps:

1. Remove the old nail varnish by wiping with a piece of cotton wool soaked in varnish remover. Once all the varnish has gone, rinse the fingers with clean water.

2. File the nails into the correct shape and buff to remove any little imperfections and rough edges.

3. Dampen the hands a little with water and apply a gentle exfoliator, using a massaging action. Then rinse the hands thoroughly and dry.

4. Soak the hands in soapy water, using a moisturizing cream moisturizing soap, not an astringent. Leave them in the water for about ten minutes.

5. Apply moisturizing cream to the cuticles.

6. Push back the cuticles using a hoof stick (usually a plastic stick with a rubber tip, specially designed for moulding cuticles).

7. Gently massage the cuticles and the whole hand with moisturizing hand cream until it is totally absorbed.

8. Remove excess dead skin around the cuticles and trim any hang-nails using special very tiny, but sharp, nippers.

9. Buff the nails to remove all ridges, imperfections and any unevenness.

10. Apply a rich moisturizing cream to the hands, wrists and lower arms, using a massaging action until the cream is thoroughly absorbed.

11. Then immerse the hands in a Vitamin E rich paraffin bath. This is used to open the pores and let the heat and moisture be thoroughly absorbed. This is done several times, with a short delay between each immersion, allowing the wax to build up in several layers. Once sufficient wax has built up, the hands are wrapped in some thin plastic film or plastic bags and placed into insulating mitts made from towel. After approximately ten minutes the mits and plastic are removed and the wax peeled away. The hands will be beautifully soft.

12. Finally, nail varnish is applied in the form of a base coat, then two layers of your color of choice, and a finishing protective top coat.

That’s it. All over! Another perfect, luxuriating, relaxing and beautifying manicure, making you feel good all over.

Do you find yourself staring enviously at the smiles of Hollywood stars radiating out of entertainment magazines? You too can have a smile so brilliant. With the growing trend of teeth whitening, costs have gone down and more products have become available, making the procedure easier than ever before.

Teeth whitening, also called teeth bleeching, was once an expensive in-office procedure that only the rich and famous could afford. Fortunately for the rest of us, teeth whitening can now be done at home, with the help of a professional. Many dentists are specially trained in teeth whitening techniques. Usually, they will mold a tray fitted to your teeth. You squeeze teeth whitening gels into the trays and keep them in your mouth for a prescribed amount of time each day. Over a period of a couple weeks, your teeth will begin to shine. These teeth whitening systems may initially cost hundreds of dollars. However, once a tray has been made, it can be reused over and over again; refills of teeth whitening gels are inexpensive. And a tray made specifically for your teeth will perform better than a generic mold.

Some teeth whitening gels are safer and more effective than others. Most teeth whitening kits include gels containing carbomide peroxide; the percentage you should use depends upon the sensitivity of your teeth. Using a gel with too high a percentage of carbomide peroxide can be painful.

While over-the-counter teeth whitening systems are available, they may not be as safe and effective as those purchased from a professional. Some may burn your gum tissue, especially if too much gel is used. It is important to ask your dentist for a recommendation.

Remember that teeth whitening does not work on caps, crowns, or veneers. Also, it will not make your teeth stark white but will instead give your smile a natural, cleaner, brighter look. Teeth whitening can only be done once every few months. To avoid further yellowing of the teeth, limit your intake of coffee, tea, colas, and red wine, which are known to stain enamel. Using a teeth whitening paste in addition to the kit can also help you maintain your new, beautiful smile.

False nails can be applied professionally in the salon, or you can apply them at home using widely-available nail enhancement kits. They come with their own adhesive and are easily cut and shaped to the style you want.

So, assuming you want to fit the nails yourself, how do you get started? Here are the six simple stages:

1. First, clean and dry your own natural nails. Then file and shape them in preparation for attaching the artificial nails.

2. Then - very important - choose the right size artificial nail for each finger. File the edges if necessary to get an exact fit.

3. Now spread a thin layer of nail adhesive over the whole area of your natural nail that will be in contact with the artificial nail.

4. Position the artificial nail such that it is very close to, but not touching, the cuticle. Then apply a light pressure to the top for a short time to allow the glue to take hold and set.

5. Once the nail is set firmly in position, file off any rough edges.

6. Apply two coats of nail varnish of the color you require, then finish off with a layer of topcoat to seal it.

It’s recommended that you don’t wear artificial nails for more than a few weeks at a time - say a month maximum. Then remove them and give your natural nails a chance to breathe and refresh their growth.

It’s also important that you always use proper nail adhesive and never just ordinary glue you might find around the house.

To remove artificial nails, soak them in a non-acetone polish remover until they start to dissolve and come away. It’s very important to avoid acetone and other chemicals with an acetone-base. They will damage the surface of the nail, affecting the shine and also thin and weaken the nail plate.

Also, don’t try to peel off the artificial nails without first soaking them in polish remover, and certainly never, ever try to break them. This could result in serious damage to your own nails below.

The skin often mirrors the health of the whole body. Healthy skin is an essential part of health and natural beauty. There are lots of things you can do to get healthy skin. Among other conditions, it happens when you eat good foods. With no doubt, certain foods are very beneficial to the skin.

  1. Garlic.
It has a rather strong odor due contained sulphur compounds. But sulphur compounds are beneficial to your skin. If you have problems with its particular smell, chew a bit of parsley afterwards. On the other hand, garlic acts as a natural antibiotic and cleanses the whole system. The conclusion is crystal clear, eat garlic as much as you can.
  2. Citrus fruits, berries, broccoli and all Vitamin C holders.
Vitamin C helps collagen formation which keeps the skin looking young and plump. The human body can neither make it or store it. The solution is to take it with foods. It can be found in Citrus fruits, berries such as strawberries and blueberries and vegetables such as broccoli.
  3. Carrots.
Carrots are a great source of vitamin A. This vitamin is absorbed into the skin and can protect it against the sun’s UV rays. Take care, excess of vitamin A is toxic to the body.
  4. Dark leafy green vegetables.
They are a good source of iron and zinc. Iron helps your skin to get enough oxygen and zinc helps you to fight pimples. Spinach is the most representative. Eat spinach every day or include some in a fresh juice.
  5. Parsley.
Parsley deserves a separate mention. It is rich in just about all you need for a healthy skin: vitamin A, chlorophyll, vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin C and iron. It is great for fresh breath too. Parsley can be easily added to your menu. Jus put it in juices, sprinkle over any savory dish or simply chewed by itself.
